Subject: Only 1 week left

The skyline stands like a sentinel in the desert... The lights of the Strip
shine brightly... The sounds of the casinos draw you in. What am I talking
about? The Silver State NSX Classic in Las Vegas April 27-29.

This is a friendly reminder that the registration deadline for the event is
1 week from today!

There'll be something for everybody: A day at the track, an impromptu car
show in front of the Race Rock Café, some leisurely cruises through the
mountains and plenty of time for socializing and "doing Vegas". We'll also
be having giveaways from Basch Acura Service, Comptech and Dali Racing.

So head over to http://southwest.nsxca.org/ssnsxc_registration.htm , get
yourself the registration forms and send them in.

Jeez, wish I had known about this one sooner! I'll be in Vegas the entire previous week on business.

Can other region NSXCA members just show up as spectators for the track event? Would love to see that track!

WOW!

I'll be in Vegas that entire week on business before too! I'm attending the big NAB show.

I would also like to know if I could attend Saturday's events? I'm an NSXCA member.

I would be happy to help out and even create panoramic VR photographs of the event. That's what my company (http://www.kaidan.com) does and I could create panoramic VR movies for use on the web site.

If possible, perhaps I could ride shotgun with someone who's going alone?

Ken and Enrique (respectively) are you boys driving or bringing your NSX's?

I'm borrowing one for the day on Friday, hope to ride shotgun the other days.

I checked with Bill for the answers to the questions posted here, and he asked me to pass them along.

Can other region NSXCA members just show up as spectators for the track event?

Yes, any NSXCA member can observe the track event free of charge.

I would also like to know if I could attend Saturday's events? I'm an NSXCA member.

Yes, Any NSXCA member from any NSXCA region can attend the non-track portion
of the event. All they have to do is fill out the registration form and send
it in with payment.

R,

Our company, Kaidan, will be exhibiting within the RealViz booth. We have partnered with them on panoramic imaging. Whom do you work for?

I'll be staying until Saturday night. Let's arrange to meet up at the show.

Drop me an email.

Broadcasters driving NSX's. I don't believe it! In all my years, I never signed off on a PO for such a vehicle. Chevy's and Ford's yes, but an NSX? What!

It can not be that GM's are buying these cars out of there own pockets. There must be another explanation. Could it be there is a group of underground, enlightened broadcaster types... Hmm. A very interesting development. As an ex-TV broadcaster, maybe I was wrong... maybe the industry isn't such a vast wasteland of "uninformed" people after all.

Jimbo, I'll be at booth i-6746 in the Sands, booth name is "ScheduALL". Doubt that I'll get much playtime during the show as I'll be babysitting about 15 staff, but will try to change my ticket to stay through Saturday. Where is your booth?

Hmm, wonder if that place by the airport rents NSX's? Promise to wash off the numbers off the sides before returning it...

nsxman, who did you work for in broadcasting?

Ex-owner/VPEng. of an ABC affiliated TV station.

Hope to get to track event for the afternoon session.

Weather forecast for Friday is predicted to be unseasonable cool (low 70s), possible AM rain (yeah right) and winds gusting to 30 MPH (damn).

BTW, you can rent an NSX for $450. for 24 hours.

Forecasts eight days out are probably not all that reliable...

No prob. I figured by responding that way, I could save you an unproductive trip out to the track tomorrow...

I had the pleasure of meeting jimbo at the track yesterday, and we got to chat a while. It's always nice to meet our virtually-connected friends in person, so that we can see what each other looks like and interact face to face. In person we can communicate much better, and smile, and realize that a given comment does not carry any negative intent.

We had a great day at the track in Pahrump which is really a terrific place, lots of fun. And I got the "pleasure" of renting an NSX for the day, the most miserable, beat-up NSX I've ever seen.

I really wanted to be there but I've been traveling every weekend and needed to be home. So the rental was a beater? What year? Did you get the vin# so we can post it somewhere so folks can have some history on it. Also where's the pics?

So the rental was a beater?

Judge for yourself:

1. spare tire tread worn to tread bars - possibly driven on without inflating
2. spare tire gouged along lip of rim, both sides
3. spare tire not bolted down - wing nut missing
4. spare tire bumpers missing (2 of 3)
5. hood hinge bracket loose
6. power door unlock doesn’t work
7. stereo cassette won’t reverse
8. air pump missing
9. lug wrench missing
10. lug nut size mismatched (one not 19 mm)
11. mismatched tires - falken on front, nitto on rear
12. shift knob loose
13. VIN windshield plate missing
14. door sill VIN plates missing
15. engine compartment release knob removed
16. coolant tank cap leaks
17. dashboard finish peeling
18. rear bulkhead trim piece loose
19. trim in footwell loose
20. gas tank filler flap won’t open
21. engine compartment strut bar missing
22. front lip spoiler missing
23. rear end body damage improperly repaired - panels don’t meet
24. interior trunk release button not working
25. interior light not working
26. traction control off warning light not working - not sure whether TCS working or not

Keep in mind that I wasn't doing an inspection on the car; these are just things that I happened to notice were problems.

What year?

'95.

Did you get the vin# so we can post it somewhere so folks can have some history on it.

ST000165 according to the plate on the door jamb.

Also where's the pics?

Still in my camera. Yes, it's a 35 mm camera but I get the shots digitized during developing. I'll try to finish out the second roll this week, take both to be developed, and have them by early next week (after I go to Road America this weekend; gotta practice for NSXPO 2001
biggrin.gif
). j/k - been there a bunch of times already...

Dang Ken,
Next time I'm in the market for another NSX, remind me to fly you out to have the NSX inspected.

Well, I had a great time at the Silver State NSX event. I met a lot of nice people. I only wish I was able to have my car there.

I was able to meet Mark Basch and his wife Jane. I have been communicating via email and phone with Mark for some time now and he's as gracious and helpful in person as he is online. I can see why he's a busy man.

I would like to thank Mark Allan for that very invigorating ride around track on Friday and Greg Hardee for letting me ride shotgun on the Saturday ride.

Here's a link to some of the photos that I took. I'm still working on the the panoramas.

Here's one of the panoramas that I shot at the event...

In order to see this panorama you'll need to have QuickTime installed on your computer. If you have a Macintosh, you're probably all set. If you have a PC, you might need to go install QuickTime. It's no big deal and you'll also be able to see a lot of other cool content (movies, NSX VR Movies, see the links below).

Go here to install the latest version of QuickTime...

Here's the first panorama that I took...

Here's a panorama of the Twin Ring at Motegi with the Raybrig and Castrol NSXs.

You can now also view the QuickTime panoramas and exterior shots of the NSX on the Acura site...
