Hi Guys,
I am thinking about making a NSX product. Of course, this is only a hobby for low volume local Prime sale. I think it will look very nice with the NSX fonts on it. But if I sell such a product with the NSX logo, Honda will probably not allow it. Now, what if I will sell the product plain. But buyer can asked for someone I know that can put the logo on for FREE. Will that work?

I think logos are usually trademarked, not copyrighted. Not sure why, because it is art, which can be copyrighted. Or maybe they do both?

For copyright, though, it doesn't matter if you make it free or sell it. If they registered it, and I'm sure a company like Honda would, you could be liable for $150k, I think. And Honda has been pretty aggressive and mean-spirited about this recently, like shutting down websites that use their name and such.

But- most likely they wouldn't even notice your product, to be honest. And I believe they will usually give you a chance to correct the offense "in good faith"- if you stop production and advertising right away, they may let it slide.

Could be a gamble, at best.

This is just stuff I know from learning about copyright as it applies to photos, so I'm no expert either.

Good luck,
Jeff
