I'm 4 for 4! I've spotted a NSX on my last 4 vacations.

A red NSX, black roof with tinted windows, chromed/polished OEM wheels and RM exhaust was getting parked by the valet at Universal Studios. I was waiting for my rental car.

BTW, the female valet parked the NSX too close to the curb!

Jim, could you see if there was any damage as a result of the valet parking too close? I'm always wary of valet parking attendants, and this may give me even more justification to be wary....

I happen to be a valet for Killer Creek on Mansell in Alpharetta, GA if any of you are familiar. I've parked a three NSX's, one monte carlo blue 97+ with Tenzo wheels, another black one driven by a lady, and a red one driven by an asian guy with a vanity plate on it.

I guess it all depends on the valet. I've very cautious when I'm parking cars and especially if they are nice (im a car nut!) I park them up front in the VIP spots.

For advice though, dont put a fight up with the valets, they will treat you like shit. Its amazing how someone who comes up and just says "I'd like to park my car myself, is there any spot I could possibly put it...I'll slip you a couple bucks..." Something to that saying, sometimes just be really nice and bullshit with the valet and usually he'll direct you towards an area. I've done that on numberous occasions, tip or not...doesnt matter, if your nice enough.

I've seen some valets in the Atlanta area who are horrible and dont care about where they park the cars. It just depends!

Self valet it and insist on keeping your keys. Twenty dollars later you'll have peace of mind that it was always in his line of sight!
Are you implying that you tip $20 so that you can self valet it?

Depending on the parking situation, definately.

Parking in S. Fla down by the beach or downtown can run you $6-$10 bucks anyway (when your out down there at night.) The extra $10 bucks is peace that your car is visibly right in front of the valet area and not in some parking garage or two backstreets over at a meter for the drunk and deranged to possibly inflict vandalism.

As far as keeping the keys, when your hanging out in the party districts typically alot of people are driving up and down the streets. Last thing I need to see while throwing back some cold ones, is my car flying up and down the street in 1st gear at 6K rpm's.

Just my personal feelings on this one. I worked through college in the hospitality industry, so I a certain appreciation for those working on tips. Valet's typically work when everyone else is out playing. Might as well take care of them too!
