I appreciate Ted trying to set up the July meet - the Country Club obviously needs more advance notice so planning well ahead.
But ..... how about the June meet though?
I haven't seen any plans as yet, so how about suggestions?
I mentioned before a Napa run would be nice - no shortage of stopping points & lunch venues to consider.
Any other ideas?

I'll be out of town for the June meet as well. Doh!

oh, boy....the X might still be in the shop. i guess i can always bring my daily commuter, but if we're doing a drive afterwards, i'll be lost in 2 minutes....:D

i've spoken to vytas and we could definitely move on to another place to eat.

we could still park at the same place and take a walk to another restaurant...even accross the street.

some alternatives are: black angus, applebees, yan can, or that mexican border place.....any others?

June 7th meeting

We'll meet at the parking lot in front of Macaroni Grill. We can then decide where we'd like to have lunch. Noah mentioned a few places in the area that we can try.

The only problem I forsee is that with a large group of ours, some restaurants may not accommodate us without some prior notice or reservation. We got lucky with Banana Leaf. Perhaps Applebees may work since they are a large restaurant.

At the next meeting we should discuss some other alternatives for club lunches and any suggestions of where else we could meet for lunch that has ample NSX parking as we have now.

I know I've been away for awhile (illness and now the deer incident) but did I miss something? Have we moved our regular meeting site?

The car should be out of the shop in time for the July lunch.

I found a restaurant called New Pearl River just off first street exit on 880 (near 101). It has good food (Chinese & some Vietnamese), reasonable pricing, good parking, large tables (probably don't need reservations even). They're hugely popular during weekday lunch and relatively slow during weekend lunch, which works well for this application.

Of course, if we do a Napa drive, we should have lunch out there instead...

I'd be up for this.. here is a suggestion for lunch. .how about Maggianos over in santana row? they have a 'family style' lunch (i tihnk this $15 a head) and can accomodate a ton of ppl.. plus good underground pkg for those 'T's with black leather seats that scortch in the sun!

I also vote for Napa.... <GRIN>

i'm not too sure about an underground parking gathering. here are some reasons why....

-people enjoy seeing their cars shine (20 coats of wax....)
-better visibility of everyone and their cars
-kodak moment
-loud exhausts may cause disturbance and nearby car alarms to go berzerk
-underground gatherings may give a bad impression to security
-showoff our NSX pride....

my humble $0.02:)

Blue -

Guess my suggestion was not in the right context.. i had thought the suggestion was to go get lunch, then drive up to napa.. so i figured the lunch part didnt make much of a difference.... but i sure do agree with your comments... was thinking that the 'show n tell' would not happen in the parking lot...

no sweat.....the guys love to chat before lunch to work up their appetites and wait for others.

we just love to look and touch each other's.............NSX.:D

How about Applebees?

Since Saturday will be here soon, it would be great to know what most of you would prefer to have for lunch. Last month we ate at Banana Leaf and they were just barely able to accommodate us. It will be much easier if we know in advance since getting a group of 15+ for lunch without a reservation may be difficult for most restaurants. McCarthy Marketplace has Applebees, El Torito, Black Angus and a few other smaller restaurants. We will still meet in front of Macaroni Grill since there is plenty of safe NSX parking out front.

How does Applebees sound?

Applebee's sux!!!

Since we didn't get overwhelming buy-in on Napa ....
If we want to try a different ethnic flavor for lunch, how about Sarovar (Indian Buffet) ?
It is right across the freeway, next to Marie Callender. They have an incredible buffet, excellent value, great food - the place is a barn, should be no problem accommodating us.
Go South on Calaveras from whatever direction on 880 then take right at the first light (Walgreens on the corner) then follow road back around towards the freeway direction - Maire Callenders will be most recognizable but its in the same parking lot.
If Indian is not to everyone's taste we can always do "Good old Mom n Apple Pie" Marie Callenders as an alternative.

How about breakfast at Applebee's, drive to NAPA, and then having lunch at a yuppie restaurant in NAPA, e.g., NAPA Valley Grill or better? That would be my vote!

As for this week, Applebees would be just fine with me, as would returning to Banana Leaf with enough warning for a bigger table (or even Macaroni Grill, although I think other people are tired of it). Just NOT Indian food, please.

Afterward, driving up to Napa might be fun, but only if we can decide ahead since I would bring my wife if so.

For a future week, I think we should try the Davenport Cash Store in Davenport. It is off Highway 1 just a couple blocks North of Bonny Dune Road, which is one of my favorite driving roads in California. The drive down there on Highway 1 is nice too -- not too many curves, but lots of beautiful scenery and places to pass the slowpokes.

The food at the Davenport Cash Store is fantastic. The only hesitation I have is that parking is limited, but I have seen the Fiat club meet there and they found room for all their machines parallel parked on the residential street next to the restaurant.

everything sounds good to me.....i'm happy to see such enthusiasm for some new flavors in our meet style.

ken, the indian buffet sounds nice....i've been to marie calendar at night time to buy pies and that place is always partying....

i may come in a suit since i'm attending a wedding at 10:30am. if it ends early, then i can go home and change.

I think we'll have a guest at the meet this Sat - I had a dent massaged out of my fender (dumb - did it myself with my other car - doohhhh!!!!!) & invited Blake, the Dent Wizard to attend our meet. He was quite enamoured with the car & surprised/shocked when I offered him a drive.
I told him to bring his truck & tools in case there was some ready made business for him!!! (Actually his motivation to come has nothing to do with drumming up business - he was really taken with the car - it's not going to take much to convert him!)
However, should anyone have a problem, I can highly recommend him - he took a dent out of my door that was on the car when I bought it & I was thrilled with the result. It was right on the fold & quite pronounced. I would challenge anyone to find where it was! That was about 9 months ago & didn't actually meet him then because the car was in the body shop at the time. But I knew I wanted him for this latest goof, even though it was quite trivial compared to the initial ding.
I can recommend him if you have any paintless dent removal you need tackled. He is comfortable with the NSX & the aluminum & done quite a few.

I will be there tomorrow, that ON THE BORDER place isn't bad at all, I have eaten there a couple of times in the past few months, and it is decent (and we can walk from the normal parking area).

Last time I was there I had 17 people, so I know they can accomodate a good sized group too.

Just my $0.02 into this thread ;)

sort of feeling like a moron here.. but is this shin-dig at noon tomorrow? or earlier?
Guys (& occasionally Gals) usually start to show ~ 11 am. Lunch is usually closer to 12:30 - No big deal re specific time. Everyone dribbles in at different times.

Hi guys,
I will be a little late tomorrow. I probably will arrive around 12:45pm. If you guys decide to eat at place other than the Macaroni's, can someone put a note on Vytas' windshield to tell me where to go? Wait a minute! Vytas' fixer does not have wipers. :D

chopsjazz said to post here regarding steve howes car.
here's what I asked in another thread i started:

Hi all, I am looking at Steve Howe's 1992 white nsx that he has for sale here on prime. He mentioned that he was going to a meet this weekend of some NW CA nsxers and said that since I live in Michigan, I should get some of you guys to look at it and give me some opinions on it. I don't exactly want to fly cross country for something I am not totally sure on, so I am looking for any insite you can give me on the car. So far I should say Steve has been nothing but forthright with me on the car, and a pleasure to deal with when it's come to all of my questions. So if anyone out there sees this, please do me the favor and check out his car, I'd appreciate it.

Noah (Blue Knight) - the gift/reward (for your guess-the-meaning-of-the-plate conest) was much appreciated. I had completely forgotten about it. A very nice gesture!
I'll look forward to watching that.
Sorry I didn't get much chance to chat with you.
See you next time. Thanks again!
