Should I use the time or mileage for oem air filter replacement?

I have a 5 years old air filter with 8000 miles. Do I need to replace it or it is good for 30000 miles regardless of the age?

If the car lives in an area of high humdity, what you'll find is that the paper absorbs moisture and reduces the filter's efficiency. If you also live in an area with above average dust and air pollution the filter would need more frequent replacement. Five years seems like a pretty long time, I'd replace it based on that alone.

Milage wise, you are probably fine, but for $40 you might as well replace it. It is a 10 min job, tops. The other option is just to open up the airbox and see how it looks. Trust me when I say it is about the easiest thing you can DIY.

Where can I get a oem air filter for $40?

As for the after market air filter, I read many threads that they don't filter as well as the oem. Is there a particular one that is good and how much?

Thanks.

Hi Larry,

That's a great price and the best ever for an NSX OEM air filter. I went to the site (searched under air filters and part number) but nothing came up. Could it have been removed?
