OEM Clock failure

My OEM clock in my 1995 died (105,000 miles). Are there any trouble shooting steps that I should take before buying another clock assembly?

I tested for power at the plug, and power is available. Therefore, it appears that the clock is defective. Is there anything else I can test before I buy a used clock?
