My left HID headlight on my 2003 is working but "flickering" when the engine is idling at low RPM. It does not flicker when the engine is off and it stops above 3K. Is this normal ?

I believe they do tend to "bounce" when driving...use the search tool as there has been a few threads on the issue.

Does your car idle rough? Might explain some form of vibration...?

yes my '02 bounces a little too. I think mine is mainly the right side and but like he said there have been a few other posts about the issue and I've gotten used to it, but it did bother me when I first got mine

Can this be fixed?

I went by the local acura dealer and their service writer thought it was flickering......I originally thought it was just "bouncing" and I needed to get in there and tighten it up............then I stopped when I saw the warning about electrocution. I think I need to just live with it ?

OP: clarify if it is "flickering" (i.e. light is turning off and on)

OR

"bouncing" light is always on, but shakes/vibrates/bounces up and down.

Bouncing is a known problem. Flickering is totally different.

There is no Acura fix for the bounce, it is a design flaw in a washer. You have to take it apart and fix, there is Comtec's DIY guide on this.

At night reflecting on something it looks like flicker but it is indeed just moving with engine vibration. Shut off the engine and I bet it goes away.

GO KRT, did you ever get the flickering fixed? What was the solution?

The problem is TOTALLY fixed for me now. Car was rear-ended and totaled so it's not my problem anymore. BUT it's my understanding that the car was repaired and sold so don't be surprised if someone else comes back with the same question on the same car.
