I have stock '92 and want to upgrade to 16/17.would oem be the way to go or aftermarket?I'm not wanting to spend an arm and a leg.I just curbed my left side wheels trying to show off in front of a 328-Ferrari.I'm sure I looked pretty stupid, anyway if i'm going to replace might as well go w/ 16/17's.OPINIONS REQUESTED PLEASE.

I would suggest getting what looks good to you, at a price you can afford.

The OEM wheels are high quality and light weight, but they're not cheap (roughly $2900 for a set new, $1500-2500 used depending on condition). You can get aftermarket wheels for the same money or less (or more). Your choice.

Also keep in mind that wheel restoration shops can often perform apparent miracles, in case it's worth it to you to repair your wheels instead of replacing them; expect to pay $100-200 per wheel.

Well, I think price is always a factor. You have to ask yourself, do you want new OEM 16/17 wheels? or used ones? If you want new OEM wheels I will suggest maybe going aftermarket. New OEM wheels costs a lot. It is at least $4,000 for just wheels alone from the dealer, but Dali Racing has it at a cheaper price (but still expensive). I recently replaced my 16/17 wheels with a 17/18 Volk TE-37s. I got the set for $2,010 and the Bridgestone Potenza's was around $900 a set. There are many good used NSX OEM wheels circulating around, most of them are already mounted with OEM tires. Personally I really like the OEM look, but after I lowered my car the 16/17 wheels just looked too small. I needed something that would fill up the fender gap. Hope this helps.

I agree with Ken. If you like your current rims, there is a place called Wheels America that will fix your rims for $100-$200. If you want 16/17s, I personnaly went Aftermarket 3 piece;for the OEMs are about the same cost. If you are looking at aftermarket rims and tires, give Vik Andonian (discount tire) a call and tell him that I sent you his way (There's no financial interest for me). He's pretty about pricing and will give you a good price. His number is 1-888-568-2746.

We were just talking about another side to this. I have a friend with a 91 NSX and he was wondering how his cost of tires would increas if he got the bigger rims 16/17 or 17/18 ?

How do tire prices and avalibility of choices of brands change from the 91-93NSX size, compaired to 94-01

If you are interested in buying a set of 7 spoke OEM wheels,Ill sell you mine for 1700.00 with tires.Drop me an email if interested at [email protected]

Obviously, the OEM tires are only available in 16/17 (and 15/16). Track tires are sometimes hard to find for the larger wheels, also. But other high-performance tires may be easy to find in a variety of sizes.

If you want to get an idea of which tires are available and how much they cost in different sizes, play around on the Tire Rack's website. It's great - shows availability, pricing, etc.

Discount Tire also has great prices for NSX Club members calling our wholesale reps there, and it's worth comparing before buying.

4g62bt2c30a,
your car looks awesome!,but I would like to ask a couple of questions.
1. what are the sizes?
2. is your car lowered, and did you have to?
3. did this effect the ABS & TCS?
4. where did you purchase them?
