Oil filters no longer available?

I went to the local Acura dealership today and tried to buy an oil filter. The guy at the parts counter told me that they no longer make the longer filter and was replaced by a shorter one. He couldn't even order the longer filter anymore becuase it was no longer listed in the computer. The part # is 15400-PL2-315 which is the same size as either the 90-93 Accord or 92-95 Civic (not sure which one but I have them on hand). He told that they've been using the new filter already so some of you may have them installed. He also said that it's better for our cars because the oil pressure will increase faster. It did seem that the oil pressure needle is more lively now. I have been driving for about an hour and took it to about 6-7k rpm with no leaks / overheating... yet.

Can anyone please confirm the discontinuation of the old filter? I'd hate to be the guinea pig here. Maybe "The Kid" can confirm it at work tomorrow? Thanks guys!

I want to check what my dealer used last time. How long is the long one and how short is the shorter one?

15400-PL2-004 most definately available:) As of this moment from AHM.
