I find it interesting how they have 3 drivers....

Puts more of an emphasis of wonder which driver specializes at each particular track.

Good Idea on this thread... Talk about the results.
I will continue to update my original thread with OLA daily updates for the EXP4/DAL car. Per EXP4s directive the EXP4 NSX reports are to be posted on the EXP4 web site only. I understand Jon York is providing these daily.

I knew Mike would kick some arse at Summit Point..

The M3 is made up of local Rochester Ny drivers and friends Nancy Becker,Roy Hopkins and Adrienne Hughes. They are defending last year's class win (m5) and this year are driving an E46 M3. The car is basically stock and Roy does all the Track/race courses while Nancy and Adrienne do the long drives between tracks. They have all been doing this since the early 90's.

In addition to this crazy race they will be again raising funds for the charity of The Rochester Ronald McDonald House.

Although, I am a long time Genessee Valley BMW club member, I am cheering for the NSX's

Good luck guys!!!

Just spoke with Mike Fitzpatrick. Mike, Mark Hicks, and the rest of the crew are currently finishing up a transmission swap as the 6-spd in Mike's car bit the dust. They all sound happy to being doing so well, but dead tired (I believe it's 10 or 11 pm in their time zone. These guys have been going at it hard core for the past couple of months. Congrats guys, keep the energy up!

Cheers,

impressive...

Just read the bit about Gary... gotta love the nsx community support.

Re: One Lap Results-Jon York

Hi Guys,

This is the first moment I have had to email any status.

I'll make this brief but wanted to comment on the various threads.

We are running this event as a team which consist of the EXP NSX (known as Mikes) and the EXP/DAL entry which is the DAL guys car title sponsored by EXP.

Sorry it was so confusing...

I will post pics of the EXP NSX on the EXP site once I have time. DAL has their site so you can follow there or on Prime.

Here's the down and dirty:

We clearly have the best drivers as evidenced by our ability to recover from DNF (did not finish's) and bounce back up.

DAL, due to problems has had to work up hill but by outdriving most others, they were able to climb back into the points after a DNF and numerous other problems.

Mike and I were much luckier with issues toward the start and built up enough points to hang in there while we make repairs and try to finish in top 10 overall and first in class....that is our goal.

Since I only have a few minutes, please excuse the brief info as outlined below but I think it will inform the community as to where we are at and how 1 Lap works (or doesn't)

1. 1 lap uses the NASCAR scoring system....Class points are much more difficult to obtain then overall as points are awarded based on number of cars...i.e. overall = 88, Class for us is like 10 or 12 cars left running.

2. Rob is driving DAL @ Roebling in rain, Mike in EXP.

It's important for us to do good today to keep our lead in class.

The DAL car will benefit from rain for their cooling issues.

Rob and Mike are like Ruebens and Michael in the rain...

3. Bad News, you heard about EXP car blowing gearbox...borrowed box is in, I dreaded the 350 miles I drove it overnight to get to Roebling...sounded like playing cards stuck in the bicycle spokes when you were a kid.

Don't get me wrong, the guy that loaned it is a saint but had no history on the box. We tossed a quarter and stuck it in.

We had starter/electrical issues but rigged up a remote start wire...Got tired of pushing the car to the starting line

We made it to Roebling, Mikes at the track now and we are having engine misfire issues.

Rob is optimistic about cooling of car due to weather conditions.

If DAL and MIKE turn good laps today they both lower the class points available on the 2nd class M3 which I think is about 50 points behind us.

They would not even be close if the NSX's didn't have so many problems to deal with between runs and overnight work.

4. Repairs: Vaughn's kept you up to date on DAL.

We had problems with EXP car shredding SC belts...3 I think during drag event. Crank pulley was cracked...70 mile detour to get a new crank on (5 hours), all night drive to get to the track and line up by 830 @ VIR.

You have the results for both cars at VIR.

Bittten by problems again, EXP had a DNF with the gearbox melt down and lost 400 points we could have sealed the 1st in class with. 9 hours to exchange the gearbox, R & R SC & Intercooler, 6 hours later we are here at Roebling.

This is make or break for EXP to finish in top 10 overall, we fell to 12 yesterday after our DNF.

DAL picked up some points but coolant problems bit them as well.

5. Conclusion:

We honestly have our fingers crossed on both cars today both for points and to hold together.

Roebling then a 700 mile hike to Nelson Ledges for the final on track competition Friday.

Sat. morning is simply a dry skid pad event and we are done.

If he cars hold together, the drivers can get back points & I suspect we will finish in great shape.

I know of no Honda finishing top 10 overall in the One Lap, not sure if a first in class either..

I know I got my %#@@ kicked in 2002 with my tuned NA.

We will know the outcome of points/times for first run @ Roebling but will pack and head out on the 12 hour drive to Nelson Ledges before they post the 2nd run for the day.

You guys will actually know the total results for today before we do..we typically find out at track next day in AM upon arrival.

You can really feel the "attitude" in the air when the EXP car is in the Sacred top 10 Overall Points from the Mopar/Vette/Ford crowd...us "Rice Burners" you know

The GT40 blew oil all over the track with an engine problem, we didn't complain...thats racing, yet, they had the balls to complain when the DAL car blew some fluid (water and water wetter, not coolant) and they are now making the DAL car run last on the track...

Lot's of discrimination from the One Lap group including a Black Flag on Vaughn that was their mistake..yet they won't correct..

That's OK, we may still pull this off...

___________________________

Last Minute news: While I was typing, Rob and Mike ran in the wet. Track has lot's of puddles, rears are slick after 16 events and 2,500 road miles.

Rob spun once but was a quicky and car didn't overheat as per last few events so I think his time is OK but afternoon run will determine if they can stay in top 20 overall...class points for 2nd is gonna be hard unless M3 has problems.

Mike didn't have problem with loaner gearbox so that's good!, The engine misfire showed up for a second then he was cooking again and passed the Z06 on the wet track, the engine studdered again and the Vette passed Mike. The engine started running good again and Mike was all over his ass but did not pass which actually hurt both their times.

Keep you fingers crossed for afternoon run...

Jon

Wow you guys are doing a great job.

Here's to a NSX or two in the top 10 and first in class. :class:

I'm stoked to hear you guys are doing so well and overcoming so many tough obstacles. I think maybe the guys on our forum are tired of hearing about it.

But hey I moderate the vette forum so....

Go team!

Hello,
Just wanted to say hi,
Its been a very long and exhausting week. It was set up to be tiring without the extra work we have had to do.
All I can say is that we would definitely not be in any competetive position right know if it were not for Gary and Mark Hicks. I also need to thank Mike Daniels for his continual assistance. We have been working long and hard on preparing My EXP4 NSX and he has been a incredibly big help.

We have certainly had our share of problems, Crank pulley chunking, trans/ring and pinion exploding etc.
Hopefully that will make our win-success all that more sweet.
I was really shooting for top 5 overall, and if not for the Vir dnf-trans, we had a good shot.

I have learned a lot and look forward to developing the NSX into an even more competetive car.

I will try to get some pictures out over the weekend.

Time to get some sleep for a change.

Thanks to all involved for all the Help.
I could not have gotten this far without these great people;

Jon York
Mike Daniels
Mark Hicks
Rene
Chris Wilson
Chris, Steve
Gary Yates
Allison(my wife)

And others.
Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy moly.. 15 point difference!!!
