Hi Everyone,
I called the track in Pahrump today to see if they will be having us
back, and it appears that in spite of us taking away Ruperts 2 favorite
Yukka plants with a wandering ZO6 [he told me that the track had been
lay'd out around them] we have the offered the opportunity to get the
place for a 1 or 2 day event! 2 days just might be too much for us all to
handle, but - why not try and see if you have the stamina?? Too much fun
can be deadly but whose counting gray hairs?
Some pix of the event have been posted at the **new** SW-NSX Owners Event
hosting page here:[more on this later]

If clicking on the link above does not work, think for a minute, did your
e-mail program "shorten" the link by cutting it into 2 lines?? it needs
to end in yaddayadda.cfm to work!!
As for the next track event, the dates are February 16 &17th 2002!
The track is the Spring Mountain MotorSports park: http://www.braggsmith.com/track/BIGtrackmap.html
The hotel is the local "Nugget": http://www.pahrumpnugget.com/index.html
"track school" rates apply.
Rupert (the track owner) will be there on the first day (and maybe both
days) to offer an informal seminar before we start on how to drive the
track in the smoothest & fastest way. (hint for those with heavy feet,
this does not mean you either have your foot all the way on the gas or
all the way on the brake) I expect we will all benefit from this no
matter what track you are on in the future!
I'll be posting the final costs for this event on the website:
http://www.daliracing.com/v666-5/info/events/track_11_15_01/index.cfm
and revising the sign up PDF file as we negotiate the details with them
this week - remember that this is a not for profit deal, and the more
cars that come, the less expensive it will be for us all - so bring a
friend.
We will have several new/modified rules.[more detail in the PDF posted
next week]
a snippet:
1) Starting the event/drivers meetings/ etc.
We will start the drivers meeting at 8:00am no matter who is changing
who's tires for whom.(that includes me)
If you need to do that expect to do it after the meeting or before the
meeting or the night before. Mark Basch and I only bring one Litening
Jack and all are welcome to share it, but that means you gotta wait your
turn - if you want your own - buy one, they are cheap at 2X the price.
(private me if you want one)
Rupert will speak to us and take questions for ~ 30 minutes - we will
need ~ 20 minutes to get all the dangling paperwork handled for those if
you that do not pay up front and etc..
2) Number of sessions/schedule:
Day 1:
9:00-9:30am is for the A group (experienced) drivers to get the B group
(need help) drivers a feel for the track.
We will then start the 1st day rotations officially at 9:30am and run two
25 minute sessions per hour.
At ~ 2 min per lap you will get 10 laps in at least - if you don't, learn
to go faster. My ITR was lapping at 2:04 and the faster NSX's were under
2.00. If you need help going faster; spend money. Remember the old
saying: "Speed costs $ - how fast do you want to go?" and that applies to
spending $ on instruction as well as go faster parts.
The checkered flag will drop at 25min after and 5min till the hour for
the cars on the track and I will have an air horn there for the flag
person to blast to notify the next group to line up in the hot pit lane.
If we start the official group rotation at 9:30am and then break for
lunch at 12:30 till 1:30 and then start again at 1:30 - 4:30 you will get
six 25 minute sessions in the official "day" as well as the "warm-up"
session in the am.
Then we clean up as we need to be out of there by 5:00pm.
Day 2:
The second day we will hit the track running at 8:30am with a quick
drivers meeting at 8:00am to discuss any issues that might have come up
on Day 1. We will then start the 1st day rotations officially at 8:30am
and run two 25 minute sessions per hour and then break for lunch at
12:30-1:30 and then start again at 1:30 - 4:30 you will get seven 25
minute sessions in the official "day". The checkered flag will drop at
25min after and 5min till the hour for the cars on the track and I will
have an air horn to blast to notify the next group to line up in the hot
pit lane.
3) Lunch on both days:
Lunch will now be included in the event cost. We will call in an order
for a sub in the am and pick it up for you by sending out a volunteer in
between the 12:00 session and the lunch break at 12:30 - it will be an
item on the sign up sheet - if you don't sign up you might not get fed.
That should save 15-20 minutes of the lunch hour for those that need the
break time and still leave plenty of time after munching for getting some
gas if you are running low.
The track gate will close at 1:30pm. both days - be inside or wait for
the next session to come across.
