Could be that maybe he's saying this to appease his people as his alliance with us has made him extremely unpopular and he has an election coming up. If the US is their w/o permission he can say I warned you and attack our troops with weapons "we" supply them with. Of course that wouldn't be the first time that happened
Invasions typically are an act of war.
I don't see anything new. This has been the position of the Pakistani government since before we invaded Afghanistan.

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf is a crook and been playing us with his bull for years now. He's a terrorist and condone these attacks but he is smart enough to act like he doesn't so he can eat of our table. I wish I could get in touching distance from him I would cut his head off. Pakistan and Iran need to be addressed before it gets out of hand.
True ,but in as much as we're preparing a "surge" in Afghanistan soon this has me wondering. I could be being paranoid as I honestly feel the Musharraf is behind Bhuttos death. I think more is going on behind the scenes of course isn't there always. Okay chalk this one up to an early morning newsreading goof on my part:smile:

right? it's not like he's saying crazy stuff.... he's just saying that the US thinks that they can handle the situation better, but they're wrong. and that he doesn't want them there without permission. we'd say the same.
i just think it's crazy how we think we can just go wherever we want. nobody's ever tried to "invade" our country, but i bet we'd be a lot less welcoming than these countries.

I was actually stuck in Pakistan during Bhutto's death, pretty crazy stuff. Burned cars, banks, shops, these people went all out. We were on lock down for three days. You couldn't even sleep at night because of the loud gun shots. That country just took a step 10 years back, and no matter who wins these upcoming elections, Pakistan is not going to get on the right track like India has. One bright spot: I got to meet Anderson Cooper and Ali Velshi from CNN.
My good friend was there at the same time. His marriage had to be postponed a few days, but he said it wasn't pretty during that time.
Ha funny that you mention that. I was there because two of my cousins were getting married (not to each other, two separate marriages). One of them I missed the main ceremony (got stuck in the hospital for 3 days with food poisoning), and the other got postponed till after the initial "3 days of mourning" period. Wasn't much mourning going on.
While on the topic of Pakistan, I think it's ridiculous how many supporters Bhutto has. She claims she seeks democracy, yet her own PPP (political party) is the complete opposite. In a democratic system, if a leader dies, steps down, or whatever, there should be a vote within the party to elect a new leader. Declaring in your will who the next chairman will be is not democratic by any means.
And her choice, Asif Zardari. The man supposedly behind both of her brother's killings, also known as "Mr. Ten Percent" for the cut he takes on anything he pleases.

Actually (and I'm not necessarily supporting Musharraf), Musharraf has come under fire in recent times for complying with Bush's "War on Terror" (if you can call it that).

I agree with Bush being the Anti Christ but the gay marriage comments and whatever the hell the other thing was about made no sense.

Exactly, if everyone was left alone to do as they please, you would be saying why didn't we do anything? we are the strongest, one of the wealthiest, and why didn't we make it our business. We don't sit back and pretend we have nothing to lose in world matters. What happens around the world effects our lives so it is our business to see that its going how we like it to.
If you live in this country and always worry about other countries but your OWN you are an idiot PERIOD. This is where you and your family and your future kids will live but lets hate on US, even though I would never live anywhere else type people disgust me. If you think there is a better place in the world to be why aren't you there?? Oh you love it here but you still don't do anything to make it better. Except blame others. Honestly, what else is there to do but blame others and vote for a different administration? Would you rather people riot in the streets after every significant decision the country makes, similar to Pakistan's society? I'm not sure where you're getting at here. What happens around the world affects everyone's lives, like you said, but that doesn't give the US the right to change the direction in which another country is going, in order to please our own agenda.
