Passenger door lock button cover

So while loading up my car at Costco, I noticed that the passenger door lock button cover was missing. I could have sworn it was there earlier so it must have popped off and disappeared some where. I can still lock and unlock by pushing the tiny black switch up and down, but it kind of looks ugly and I'm a bit anal about how the car looks.

Does anyone have a good source for getting a new cover and tips for putting it back on?

Thanks.

Otto

yes, it's called something like door knob.
one of mine just disappeared when my car had TB WP service in dealer. u can still lock and unlock your door.
"that part is cheap" but for a little plastic door knob.....
it's cost 5 bucks. just for that little crap. LOL.
for installation, u need to the whole interior piece off first. not an easy job. i have seen someone who doing it on my car in body shop.

You have to remove the entire interior door panel to re-install the plastic door lock stick down thing? If it just popped off, why couldn't just stick it back on?

yes.that's what we are talking about.
seems easy, but it's a lot of work. the service manager tried to find that small crap for me first, but they didn't find it. put everything back. complained a lot in front of me. said it's too much work because he promised me that no need to pay a penny for it.

i dont know how to explain this on the internet. if u take off the panel, u gonna understand what i am talking about. if it's dropped off, it must be somewhere near the window.( assuming that window is rolled off )

i dont recommand to do that work. my body shop needs to do some body work for my car, so they didn't charge me extra on that part. otherwise,i dont think it's cheap to do it. at least, 100-200 bucks. depends on location. they removed the whole thing, so i looked at it.

Just ignore it because it doesn't matter. the knob wont affect your door's lock or unlock.

NSXkkk?

I know it probably doesn't mean anything, but every time I see your screen name I cringe:eek:

and I'm white:redface:

NSXkkk, you are right on the door lock pull knob, you have to take the whole door panel off to replace the plastic door lock pull knob, I am doing both of mine now while I have the panels off to fix windows.

However, I think what otto_joe is talking about is the electric door lock rocker button, because he said he could still lock the door by pressing the tiny black switch. I also had to replace one of these for the same reason. I could not find the rocker switch cover being sold by itself, I did however find one on here. geo_nsx appears to be parting out a 2004, should be the same part and both drivers and passenger side are the same. I don't know if you can snap the button cover off and back on, it might break when you snap it off.

If you are referring to this black plastic fixture with the word "security" stamped on it, that piece is held on with some fasteners underneath the the top of the door panel. It doesn't just push or snap back on. But the door panel is really easy to remove and reinstall. You could handle this yourself without difficulty. Buy the part, take off the door panel and replace. It is pretty straightforward.

So after looking around I found the darn switch cover under the passenger seat. :)

This is what the back side looks like.

I pushed it back in and viola, good as new! It looks like a simple friction fit. :frown:

I'm so glad that I could find it, since I didn't want to have to order a whole new switch.
