I guess I grew out of the stick on kit phase.
I had it on my Integra and NSX for a while. It didn't have the 'look' I was after so I peeled it all off. Now THAT is a chore.
I'm no in the slow process of converting everything I can to full CF parts.
But, if that is what you like then go with it.:wink:

cost of overlay was a little under $400 and easy to apply. The stock console is cheap looking black plastic that cost $280 just to replace on old cacrs that are cracking and peeling apart. I had to sand mine down, paint, coat, and apply overlay. I agree that full carbon console would be the way to go, but does anyone make a quality one? If so please let me know.
I'm currently waiting on one right now that is full CF and cost LESS than the price you paid for the overlay.
BTW, You MIGHT be able to find and old, crappy, used, center console for that price but one in great to excellent condition is considerable more than $280.
Any one would put this in their NSX. RICE.
I think that's a little unfair...
Some people don't have the knowledge or skill to replace the console, so they go with the next best thing. I think this part, combined with the gear display shift knob, and some neon lights... well then we're talking rice. But I wouldn't consider this 'Rice' by itself.
If I am not able to get the door inserts in CF anywhere (nobody that I know of makes them), I will have to use the overlay for them, also probably for the vent pod at the top of the console :redface: . I know it's not the optimal thing to do, but aside from fabricating my own CF parts (which I have NO idea how to do), I don't really have any other choices...
True carbon fiber like Porsche offers for their cars are nice upgrade, and tasteful, if you like that kind of thing, I feel that any overlay, such as wood grain,carbon fiber are just cheapen the car. Ok for civic/integra crowds, No for NSX. Imagine a ferrari owner put the said kit in their car One must wonder if NSX owners have good taste as other exotic car owners.

I already admitted that I had a CF kit in my car several years ago when I first got it and wanted that look. I was happy with it at the time. The reasons I did it were that I didn't know they offered full CF items for it, and if they did, I didn't want to come off the hip for the $$ to do it. I could get the whole kit for roughly the same price as one or two true CF items. Sounded good to me at the time.
As for having taste, that to me is a matter of opinion. Do you know for fact they overlay kits AREN'T offered for any P or F car? Just because one owner likes something that another owner doesn't, it doesn't mean one has taste more than the other. They have different likes.
Variety is the spice of life. I'm glad not everyone likes the exact same things or we wouldn't have a market of products to choose from, it would be one option and that is it.
Now if he starts putting that CF looking vinyl tape on the outside of the car.......:redface:

Problem is I am on my second center console. The first one was a complete FU when I got the car. The 2nd cracked in several places after new stereo install. I wrapped Doe Skin pleather around it and it looked fine for a few months. After removing the pleather all the goo-b-gone in the world could not fix the plastic console so it now covered in genuine carbon fiber stick on.
I anticipate having to throw away the whole console piece within the year. Does anyone know of a good aftermarket center console that actually fits and is of higher quality than the plastic center piece that cost $4.00 to make and sells for $280 plus?

Come ON! Does anyone make a nsx console that is not plastic with that black film that peels off? A NSX owner has a plastic console with a black overlay (sticker, film, coating, or whatever you wanna call it) until you get an aftermarket replacement.
IS there a good replacement?!?! I'm not talking about that cheap glass carbon fiber that sells for a couple hundred.
I would go with a plastic console if it looked as nice as the audi tt or similar moderate priced cars that make tasetful use of plastic.

And I'm kinda with EIFFEL on this one. I'm pretty sure I have the Dali console in my car, and it's one piece.

For 200 bucks I expect the holes to be pre-cut.
This $200 one seems the way to go. Cost effective and could be cut then painted as needed. THank you very much for the link.
Is this real carbon fiber or plastic with carbon fiber wrapped around it? Is it glass carbon fiber? $300 sems extremely low price for the real thing. Are you happy with it? No fade spots? If good quality please let me know the vendor you bought it from. I have heard a lot of negative about the Dali CarbonFiber (cheap material).
Do share this info. Some of us are looking for a vendor to provide a real product of this nature.
