I have a neighbor who is going to purchase a Porsche 993 w/manual. The year he wants to focus on 1996 and newer. It will be driven year round through the four seasons. I personally don't think he will need all wheel drive but I could be wrong.

His budget is $35k. What kind of mileage can he expect for his price point?

What are the best Porsche sites for him to visit? What's the best method to locate one for sale (Autotrader, Porsche forums and so on)?

I wish I could talk him into a NSX but he wants to be different

You can have a pretty low to mid range mileage 993 c2 for 35k. As far as forums go, for the 993, nothing beats rennlist.

Also, out of the cars I've owned. I've had two favorites. The nsx. And the 993. Just an awesome driving experience. Pure sports car.

The 993 is much better looking and more loved than the 996 BUT expect to pay for it!!

Depends on which model?

C2/C4 (1996-1998) - narrow body
C2S (1997/1998) - noticeably wider as its an "S" model
C4S (1997/1998) - noticeably wider as its an "4S" model

For $35k expect C2 models and 50-100,000k mileage.

You can get mid-mileage C2S and C4S in the $40's...

Nice rare 964 widebody! I'd rather have one of those than a 993. I guess I'm one who is more partial to the classic headlights.

But back on topic - your neighbor should consider the non v-ram 1995 993's too, basically the same motor sans the varioram intake (a little more low end torque) but it's OBD I and much less sensitive to things like clogged air injection ports - will trigger your emissions light on OBD II, and prevent your car from passing inspection.

These are examples of 993's. Best and last of the aircooled 911's...

I recall seeing a 993 twin turbo for about 70k. Highly collectable IMO.
400 HP, too!

Killer performance for a 14 year old car.

0-60mph: 3.7 seconds 0-1/4 mile: 12.1s @ 116 mph Top Speed: 192 mph
