I just got my 91 oem 15/16 5 spokers back from my powder coater.
He sandblasted the wheels nicely and easily with aluminum oxide I believe.
He tried a chemical strip on one just to see how that would go.
Once cleaned, he out gased them for 2 hours in the oven.
Once cool, he epoxy primed them.
Then he applied the Tiger Drylac Gunmetal Metallic 59/90822.
Baked in the easy bake oven and done.
A clear coat is not necessary with this powder it is written.
We will see how things last.
I was hoping to match my 5zigen 17/17 hyper black.
We are close but a little off.
I really enjoy the look. Kind of updates the old wheel, while keeping the 4x4 appearance.
Now to post for Ken (nsxtasy) about my Wal-Mart Federal 717 tyres I slapped on!!!
Best darn Cadillac ride I ever had, Great for the trip to Kelowna.
Enjoy

It does update them. However, I think I like flat black better than "near black". I'm considering the OZ Ultraleggeras (sp?) in black and recycling my 3sets of '91-'93 wheels since they have no re-sale value.

Yes, some like it Black for sure, its not for me, maybe with a red strip or something.......
Here is a black set in Europe.

opps, shit, maybe i like the black now.
Ahhhhhhhhhh

What we learned last night was. That a $50 torque wrench very accurate compared that to a Snap-on $400 digital read out torque wrench. I checked out exactly how close Trev's 80 ft/lbs torque was. He was within < +- .2% of 80 ft/lbs....

I like them looks nice, my biggest complaint is the visual fat tire look. I have not seen the fat 5 wheels painted white :)

Re: gun-metal or bust...

I think it looks good either ways but the black with red strip would have fit better on the red NSX :)

Hey that is funny- I bought one of those Snap On electronic torque wrenches and after two months returned it and went with their "cheaper" mechanical torque wrench and I love that one. PS, I like the black wheels on the car!

I like the black ones, but sometimes it depends on the type of wheel.
