Does anyone know if you can Powdercoat a 97+ NSX rim to match the rims on an 95 NSX? We have one that doesn't match the others. Any recommendations for a place in the Houston Area? Thanks.
I believe the proper term is "refinished". (If I'm not mistaken, powdercoating implies applying a coat of paint which results in a textured finish.) And yes, you can have the wheel refinished to match.
Any recommendations for a place in the Houston Area?

Powdercoating is just like how it sounds. Parts are coated using a special electrostatic spray gun that is charged with 30,000 - 90,000 volts. This process applies the color powder in a smooth and even coating. Then you bake it. The result is a finish much more durable than conventional paint finishes.
I have now had two sets of 94+ rims powder coated. Both are used on the track. Amazing finish, extremely durable. It cost me $50 per rim and I had a choice of more than 200 colors available at the shop and another 400 colors available with a little wait. !!
My company's (www.mensilift.com). engineering dept has recently decided to use as much powder coating to replace paint, as possible. Our equipment is subject to a lot of abuse and powder coating is far superior to paint. I still have one set of 94+ NSX rims with the original paint and they have really deteriorated compared to my other powder coated sets.
So if I want the rim to match a 95 NSX rim like the rest, I need to have it refinished right? I'd like the rim to match the darker 95 rims. Thanks again.
