i bought a 1997 nsx. 2 weeks, i made oil & filter change(filter was OEM).
sometimes the oil light blinking. i dont really know why. also, does anyone know what normal oil pressure is on nsx?

Friendly warning: You're just gonna piss people off posting your question in multiple forums. You've probably hurt your chances for any help by doing it.

nothing leaks. just feel weird when it's blinking.
i put 5 quarts and half. but i suddenly realize that i put extra half quart when i made the rearch in this forum. i withdraw some oil away.

wow ok....
the light should not come on at all.

dont worry about the extra 1/2 a quart, its not an issue.

when the light comes on your car is under 10-15psi of oil preasure and is going to damage every bearing in your engine.

do not drive your car with the light flashing or blinking ...

your proper reaction should be immediate physical discomfort ( i acturally feel phsically sick when the oil light comes on. )and then pulling the car over AS SOON AS YOU CAN and turning off the engine and check your oil.

if your car is running wierd when the oil light it on, its very serious issue.

you can pull the dip stick and see where the oil is.

if its not even on the dip stick you have a serious problem at hand.

if the oil is at the full level, i would recommend you get your car tested or oil preasure and if that test is good then i would change out the oil pressure sender switch.

this is my personal experience with my nsx. i am pretty new on manual transmission. i made engine stall once this week. after i restart engine, the oil light blinking. right, if i turn engine off, restart after few minutes. it wont blink anymore. yesterday, someone was installing horn for me. door was opening for like 1 hr and half. after he started engien, the light blinking again. i turn engine off, and restart it. it stop blinking. very weird.

i used mobil-1 10w30.
my oil pressure is usually over 50% when engine rev is around 1000. if i speed up, it's about 60-70% . depending on how fast i go.
the oil light blinked twice this week. 1st time was that after i made a engine stall :frown: (pretty new on manual transmission, i was going upward)
2nd time was that someone installing a horn for me. we left the door opening for like 1hr and half. i started engine, then oil light blinking. i suddenly turn it off, and restart. it wont blink anymore. feel weird.

You bought an expensive car. You will enjoy it more if you study/research/participate in this forum. The search button is you friend.

To help directly, your car should idle with the oil pressure indicating about two lines on the gage, or more, when cool or warm. It may indicate about 1 line when warm/hot or older.

On page 3-4 of the manual, it says it needs to be at 0.7 (indicated) at idle (or more) and 3.5 indicated, or more, at 3000 rpm or higher.

My car is high mileage. It shows about 1 bars at idle, over 4 or 5 bars at high rpm, but drops to 3 bars or less when hot at >7000 rpm on the race track.

I assume yours is not showing 1 bar at idle? What weight oil did you put in? Re-check the level. Does the pressure go up when you rev it? How much?

If the oil light is blinking, you may have a MAJOR problem.

The very first thing you need to do is check is the oil level on the dipstick...

NSXtasy is right !!

Do NOT joke with oil en oil-pressure in a NSX.
If the Oil light starts blinking, I would immediately stop the car and investigate !!

I might be overstating things a little, but just see that OIL warning light as a TOO-LATE-LIGHT !!

Your engine is the most expensive part on your NSX Don't joke with it, Don't take any changes

Re: asking some help for nsx exhaust tip

Will the '02+ rear valence fit cleanly a quad-tip such as the ARK DT-X?

if i use custom pipes, and 2 light weight exhaust tips, do they increase HP?

i am thinking of custom pipes + 2 magnaflow dual tip (make it quad tip) instead of my stock exhaust. probably wont take Catalytic Converter off.
will they increase HP on my nsx, or i have to take both catalytic converters off? anyone has idea?

Re: if i use custom pipes, and 2 light weight exhaust tips, do they increase HP?

what engine are you running?
I would think if there is any increase it would be VERY marginal. Especially if you have stock manifolds on 3.0L

nsx oil pressure is 7KG/cm with 2500RPM.is that normal? or ??

  yesterday , my nsx's oil pressure went to 7 KG/cm with only 2500 RPM. is that bad? maximum is 8. i drive the car slowly every day. dont even rev over 3000 RPM. when i shift to Netural. it's likely 3.5 KG/cm. is 7 kg/cm too high with 2500 rev?

Re: nsx oil pressure is 7KG/cm with 2500RPM.is that normal? or ??

I would be more worried if I had a DROP in pressure than a rise. It sounds like a sending unit or gage failure.

I just have a question.

What year car?
Has the gage or sending unit ever been changed?

When you turn the key on, engine off, what does the oil pressure gage read?
Have you checked to see if the wire broke off at the sending unit, or came loose? (Most likely problem)
Do you know where the sending unit is?

What oil filter is on the car?
When was it last changed?
What oil are you using?
Is it full?

Does the oil pressure "Idiot Light" illuminate when you first turn on the key? Does it extinguish after you start the engine?

The oil preasure is usually high when the car is cool. Once the car warms up you'll see a good drop in oil preasure as the oil thins out.

If you see your oil preasure just shoot up during driving to 7KG, i would suspect oil sender and get it checked out. Highly unlikely that oil preasure will shoot up since the feed and bleed system are all mechanical and either system will not flux enough to cause that kind of a jump.

happy motoring.

i dont know where it is. that moron light illuminates when I first turn on the key.LOL. it wont show anymore after i start engine. recently did oil change. the gauge reads when turn on the key. i dont think it's wire problem.
i just tried my car antoher time. drive it slowly, then pushing a high rev around 6000 to see the difference. this time , it's ok. 1000 rev with around 3.5 kg/cm. 4000 rev with 5.5 kg/cm. i will see what's going on tomorrow.

i use mobil 1 10-30. honda oem filter.
