Hello.

I'm trying to convert over to r134a. The system has been emptied and the new fittings are in place. My pressure gage is reading too high (65 lbs) and the first of three cans is not half empty.

According to the directions it is possible I am hooked up to the High Pressure fitting. But when I checked here . I am connected to the proper fitting.

HELP!!

First I would be checking both pressures at the same time. After that the problems could be a few, including, bad expansion valve, clogged expansion valve, bad compressor.

One thing I am not clear on is, nowhere in the instructions does it say to remove the old Schrader Valve in the low pressure line. I did anyway, since there is one in the new fitting. I wonder if the old valve works in conjunction with the new in some way..........

EDIT-------------
Nevermind. Both old and new need to be in. All better now. Thanks for the assist MiamieNeSeX.
