My NSX is a '91 with the following mods
- NSX-R six-speed box (i.e. shorter final ratio),
- Taitec Headers and Lightweight exhaust
- Brembo Brakes
- 17" wheels for and aft
My car is in absolute top conditions and faster than a few other NSX of this region.

I came across this Porsche, a 3.2 carrera (231 hp). It was a cabrio, I think a 1984, still with the 915 box.
Anyway, I thought I would not "lower myself" (lol) to race such a slow car, but after a ramp into the motorway he pulled strongly so we made a rolling start.
We were practically even until 225 kmph (140 mph), I know the speed because I shifted into 6th (7800 RPM in 5th, considering my gears). We both came to that speed very quickly. At that point I was getting clearly quicker than him so I pushed another few hundred meters (until 240 kmph = 150mph) and then we both slowed down.
I am very disapponted because I really thought I was a lot quicker than an old 3.2 911, especially after spending so much money for my mods.
Does anyone have had similar experiences?
Funny is, I had an identical 3.2 911 and never realized it was so quick.
Damn it....lol

That porsche was heavily modfied! I've raced a 3.2 in coupe form (faster) and had NO problem pulling away from him in my *stock* NSX. The cabrio's are even slower.

I would agree also. You should be able to beat any stock NA 911 from pretty much any year. Except the 997's.

So, what is your point? Hell they are in Italy, I say let them race. If I was there and I saw the race I would have joined them.

Point is when you street race bad things can/do happen. Innocent people get hurt because two or more hot foots are trying to show off.

92NSX, you're right, we were driving at illegal speeds, but, if that is possible, we were doing in a responsible way. It's a straight piece of open motorway and there was no traffic at all, zero, no cars at all.

I was also wondering to what extent the pop-up headlights may affect the car's aerodynamic performance. That is certain to become increasingly important at higher speeds.
Anybody knows what the top speed penalty is likely to be with the pop-up headlights raised as opposed to the normal closed position? I found no reference through the Search link.

i for one only race in school zones between the hours of 1 pm and 4 pm because that increases my chances to hit innocent people. i think waiting until there is absolutely no traffic in the middle of the day on an open smooth flat straight road is irresponsible as you increase the chances of killing innocent gnats mosquitos and fruit flies.
