Ramirez Is Banned 50 Games After Positive Test

A real shocker here:rolleyes:

50 games is the new minimum for MLB.
Anyone who fails a drug test gets this type of punishment.

As for Ramirez and anyone else in MLB, I am no longer surprised when a big name player fails a test. They're all cheats in my book in this era.

Which really means nothing to someone who makes millions. I say ban for life if you want to get their attention and end the roid use in sports. I mean seriously if the guy makes 75 mil, I don't think hes going to worry about losing 25 mil. He will cop an attitude and cry yes, but then forget about it while sitting in his gold plated hot tub.

He will lose 8 million over 50 games, and will be back for the second half of the season. I think banishment for life for those who cheat the game.

Why not just make it legal or stop testing. They all cheat anyway (at least most of them). Does anyone really care if they are using roids? I could care less. People are paying to see these guys to superhuman things. Hit balls farther, run faster etc etc. The way they do that is drugs. Sure some people are just naturally gifted and don't need drugs, but when they see the people not as gifted hitting it farther or running faster because they are on drugs... guess what, time for the gifted peeps to get on the juice too!

This is exactly the mindset of the baseball owners, players association, and commissioner. Soon little leaguers will be shooting up for tee ball because "everyone's getting on the juice?" That's great advice...

Sorry for the misquote on my numbers but my point is the same. This guy makes / made millions already. Losing 8 mil is a drop in the bucket and not a big deterrent. Threat of unemployment is a better deterrent IMO.

It isn't advice, it is just reality. You can pretend they are all out there playing their best without ever touching the drugs, but it obviously is not the case. I don't watch baseball at all so I could really care less.

I hate the Dodgers so on one hand I've been laughing my ass off at this.

On the other hand, I love baseball and this is yet another black eye for the game I love.

I know it won't happen because Bud Selig is such a putz but I pray that this is the push over the edge that the commissioner needs to really enforce some change. The players union in baseball has been way too strong for way too long. Force real testing with real punishment.

After all that baseball has been through, 50 games is a nice start. But he really should be banned for a year and lose any chance of ever entering the hall.

What an idiot.

Is he an idoit for taking drugs? I mean, if he took drugs so he could make 50 billion dollars playing baseball or not take drugs and never make it into the major leagues then perhaps he made the right decision.

I only think they are idiots when they lie about it or pretend it was from something else -- which he has now done -- so yes, he is an idiot.

Just admit it, come clean and move on.

quoted for troof my brother.

Sounds similar to thw people who whine that the players at univ of arizona (where i went) drop classes after the basketball season ends. So what? I went to U of A so i could go MAKE MONEY. THe basketball players are there so they can MAKE MONEY. Ramirez took the drugs to he could MAKE MONEY. I'd deal with a bunch of public scrutiny and bad headlines for $50mill a year.. hell even for a couple mill a year... to "work" 4 months a year for 4 hours a day.... what a joke...

I think the he was a genius if it got him another $50mil. Unless of course he strokes out from the high cholesterol/BP etc...

The fertility drug he was taking to start his bodies own production of hormones washes out of the body within 72 hours. All he had to do was delay signing a contract few more days to be sure he had a negative test result. Thus, he flunked two tests one of them being an IQ test.

Anyone caught positive for any performance or recreational drug in any sport should be banned for life from entering their respective HoF.

50 games is squat! Stiffen the punishment.

I have to say these "athletes" should be tossed out of professional ball for the remainder of their lives. This is not a new problem; these fools know the risk and knowingly take that risk. If caught-no mercy. They are banned from professional sports and never permitted to be in the hall of fame.

I agree.....except there is a huge conflict of interest there. These heavy hitters are rather good at bringing in revenue for the powers at be.

Fertility drug ? Its just manny being marilynn !!!!!!!

Yea, its called HCG. People use it to kickstart the natural production of testosterone in their bodies after a round of steroids.

When introducing synthetic forms of testosterone to the body, it tends to suppress the natural production. HCG stimulates the production process.
