I spoke with Random Technologies yesterday and additionally received an email from them which I have pasted into this thread. Pending verification, it would appear that they now carry high performance CATS for the NA2 year models ranging from 1997-2005 based on the diagram below that depicts the difference between exhaust systems. (I took this pic from the Science of Speed website, Chris, I hope you don't mind; let me know if you do and I will remove it).

If anyone can verify the question in the pasted email below in regards to bolt pattern we may be set. If I assumed and filled in the ? marks in on year ranges than it would be obvious that they would work since 97-05 use the same system based on the SOS picture but I don't like to assume things. Lastly, I cross referenced the part numbers they provided, these are the same race series metal matrix version that is offered for the 91-94 NSX from SOS.

We recently added direct fit converters for 199?-2005 NSXs. These converters have a 2-bolt flange on each end. The converters used on 1995-199? had a 2-bolt flange on one end and a 3-bolt on the other. We haven't been able to verify the last year in which the 2-bolt/3-bolt combination was used, so I'm not sure which configuration you need for your '98. If it has 2-bolt/2-bolt converters, the part numbers are 141-22014 and 141-22015.

Anyone up for coordinating a group by for these things? Seems in the past there were a lot of people interested.

I emailed them too and got the same reply. I told them my cats have 2 bolts on each end and they said it would fit.

Update on the Random Tech CATS - Confirmed with SOS that the ones they are refering to in this thread I started are for the 2000-2005 NSX so if you have this year model NSX your good to go. I am sending my CATS to Random Tech via coordination with SOS to have them prototyped, this will take a month but for all of you that want these high performance CATS you will be able to get them in the future from SOS. Not sure if this will cover all year ranges for the car but my NSX is a 98 if that helps anyone figure it out, I'm sure SOS will additionally let everyone know when they are available.

I'll update this thread when more information is available.

Muffler/pipe shop can modify the piping of the cats to make them fit. Not sure which is sure which way would be cheaper.

Update - CATS removed from car will be shipped tomorrow to Random Tech. Pictures of orginal CATS are attached; these are for a 1998 NSX-T for reference.

Random emailed me saying they have direct converters for 95-99. Guess they're some sort of adapters. Any feedback on the sound after installing them?

They should have "direct convertors for 95-99" because they just finished modeling mine a couple days ago. They are in the process of coming up with pricing - SOS will I'm sure let everyone know that they are available once pricing has been determined. Maybe today or early next week, you can of course purchase them direct from Random Tech but I would think SOS will run some sort of a new product release pricing (this is an assumption though and not a guarantee since I dont work for or represent SOS in any way beyond a customer standpoint).

Stay tuned -

SOS pricing will probably be better, hint, hint... - they should post something soon. I will have mine either the end of this week or early next week hopefully. I will take some video with sound, I currently have the factory exhaust on my car although the GT-Lightweight is sitting in the garage waiting to be installed. Good time to get factory exhaust note sounds before I swap out.

Stay tuned for sound bites - note: I will not be performing a before and after Dyno run, not worth the expense for me and I know the HP gain is not going to be out of this world anyway but I'm sure there will be some degree of increase.

I have the RT cats on my '91 and I couldn't be happier. The sounds wasn't any louder at first, but after a month or so, they're just a TAD louder/deeper.

Much lighter than stock btw.

Should go great with my supercharger once it shows up.

RT said oem cats have 600 cells. Their's has 300 cell. I guess it would sound like something between having oem cats and test pipes which I've had and didn't like at all. I guess only one way to find out

Mechanic at a local dyno shop said NA cars needs some back pressure unlike turbo's so thats why NA cars will sometimes loose hp with test pipes. I don't know if the same would apply to supercharge cars.

Received my Random CATS today, will install tomorrow and try to get some sound clips for everyone interested. In the mean time, here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Okay guys, I finally installed the new Random Tech CAT Converters from SOS, fit and finish are top notch 100% perfect. I recorded a video but to be honest you can't tell the difference in sound via the video, you have to be in person to tell. Description wise, the exhaust is a little louder, not much though. One thing I did notice right away is the rise and fall of the engine RPM when you are revving the engine. I seems to be faster, both in the rise and in the fall, I guess that could translate to a faster throttle response. I drove the car around and honestly can't tell any difference although I'm sure for you guys out there that are more attentive than me will notice something. My butt dyno unfortunately doesn't work anymore without at least 50+ horsepower added and I don't drive my car often enough to feel anything. I personally think it's great everytime I drive.

Would I do this all over again - yes... I know that the engine breaths better and the sound of the throttle rising and falling off faster is rather cool to me, sort of F1 car sounding but not quite that fast of course. I also feel pretty good about keeping the air clean since of course the only other option to this are test pipes which I don't think should be run on a regular street car due to pollution.

Contact SOS if you want to join the Random Tech Hi-Flow CAT Club...

Do you have stock exhaust and headers? If so the sound change isn't going to be much. Test pipes add about 25-30% increase in volume so hfc should be something like 15% incease which is not noticible with stock exhaust.

Stock exhaust for now, waiting on my exhaust adapters from SOS in order to put on my GTLW exhaust on Friday. Oh, stock headers also, don't see any reason to upgrade them since I have factory headers and not log style exhaust manifolds like the older NSX's.

Oh, you're going to love that sound. When I sold my '91, I moved over my GTLW over to my new '02 and had someone local custom-fabricate my Random Tech hi-flows to fit my '02. I did it purely for the sound....it's the best sounding NSX exhaust combo out there if you ask me. Not too loud, but damn aggressive!

The sound is great!!! Very low deep growling sound is the best I can describe it. My wife doesn't like it much, but it's my car so I do as I please!!!! She can drive the Rover around....

Sorry for the delayed response, been working around the house all week painting and tiling floors... Anyway, I sent a video sound clip to Chris at SOS, I thought he was going to post it - all I have are the Random CATS and GTLW exhaust in regards to exhaust stuff. I like the sound, still trying to get the GTLW exhaust tips to line up right though. Not a problem related to the CATS, it fit funny with the factory ones on, just need keep bending the hanger brackets a little bit at a time. I'm very close to perfect fitment.... Fingers crossed of course...

Got it put on today. At idle theres no difference imo but at WOT its a lot louder. Its almost as loud as the test pipes but without the raspyness. Whats best is that it made my exhaust even more high pitch :D
