I took my car in for an oil change this morning and mentioned that there have been a couple times lately when the engine has died immediately after starting up (but would then restart w/o problems). I just got a call from them and they're telling me its something in the ignition switch and will necessitate a repair.

Now, I'm not bitching. My car is 13 years old and has 106,000 miles, half of which I've put on myself in the last 3+ years. In those 50,000+ miles I have had the following repairs.

- One 02 sensor @ ~$250.
- Targa roof latch handle on driver side @ ~$50.
- Ignition switch (the current problem) @ ~ $200.

And that's it, the sum total of what I would classify as repairs. Note that I am not counting the gas struts for the trunk/hatch or the timing belt or brakes or the 5 sets of tires I've used up.

The reason I'm posting this is it's striking that a car this old with this many miles that I drive so hard has proven to be so dependable. Since I frequently see questions posed by new members over in the newbie/compro section asking about NSX reliability, I wanted to detail my actual repair costs here.

Anyone else that would like to detail their repair costs over time, feel free to add them to this thread.

My car's coming up on 100,000 miles, and in the 30,000 miles I've driven it, I've had zero repair issues. Just routine maintenance, and of course, tires.

Yes, it's a Honda, but even my Integra's been in the shop more than my NSX.
It's a damn fine machine.

My repair list:

1. Clutch at 45K mi. (but this one lasted 100K). Oh yeah, that's a wear issue.
2. Tires. Ok, wear issue again.
3. Changed AC to R134A. Ok, that was by choice.
4. Burst a radiator hose at 135K mi. so I changed all 21. Yes! A real repair!

Sorry to disappoint, but that's it!

I don't have them in front of me but here is what I remember off the top of my head.

Done by the PO:
1. Driver side Window Regulator
2. A/C Evaporator
3. Coolant Bottle
4. Main Relay

Since I have own her:
5. Clutch Master Cyl leaking (Replaced slave also)
6. Cam plugs

Repairs needed
7. CCU intermittant (Need to send to BrianK)
8. Center channel amp failure (Replacing with Zsub V-3)

Not bad for a 17 year old car.
