re: aftermarket wheel sizes

looking to upgrade to a set of aftermarket wheels for my '95. Seems like everyone does 18/19 and skips over the 17/18 combo (from 16/17 stock). Is there a reason for not doing 17/18? or 17/17 or 18/18 for that matter? Given the short lifespan of the rears, I would love to replace 17s or 18s instead of a pair of 19s.

Any advice is apprec, RJ

Do a search, each size has it's advantages.

The 17/18 combination is the most common, and *not* the 18/19 combination. If you do a poll you should get a result that reflects this.

Because of the limited widths of the fronts, the sidewalls of a 18/19 are too short and it makes the ride rougher as well as making it very likely to bend rims.

17/17 is usually chosen by those folks who track their NSXs, 18/18 are not common at all.

Ken (2slow2speed) is absolutely correct.

And the most common tire sizes used on those wheels are 215/40-17 front, and either 255/35-18 or 265/35-18 rear.

I'm not so sure about that.

Folks who track their NSXs often have one set of wheels for the street, and a separate set for the track. For the street, the most common wheels are either the stock wheels (in their various sizes), or 17"/18" aftermarket wheels as noted above. For the track, sizes tend to vary, since track tire availability is iffy for larger sized wheels. A lot of folks (like me :D) use the '91-93 stock 15"/16" wheels for track use, because lots of track tires are available in the stock sizes and because they fit inside the car. And I know a lot of other folks who use 16"/17" wheels ('94-01 stock or aftermarket) for their track tires.
