rearview mirror

I did something stupid today. My Civic wouldn't start, so I ran over to Staples (right before closing time) in the NSX to buy a chair. I tried to fit the chair in the passenger side.. wouldn't fit. I managed to knock out the rear view mirror in the process. When I mount it now, it moves around quite a bit. Without the plastic cover piece, the mirror would fall right off with a slight upwards push.

It seems that there is something on the sides that is supposed to slide into the mount on the windshield. I couldn't find anything on the mirror itself - could this piece have fallen off? Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thank you.

How did install it? Did you just try to slide it back on? If so, the lock screw is probably preventing it from sliding down all the way. You need to loosen the screw, slide the mirror down on mount, then tighten the screw a bit. See attached page from the service manual.

Thanks for the reply.

I found the spring on the passenger seat a few minutes after posting. I think I'm missing the piece that is held down by the spring. Anyone know if this can be purchased separately?
