Has anyone had their NSX seats recovered? Mine (a '91) are still in good shape but are Ivory and I would like to have them recovered in black. I've also noticed the quality of leather has improved over the years. If you have style and cost info or can recommend a shop in So.Cal. could you please advise.

I too have been looking to have my '91 seats recovered, but the cost seems prohibitive. I have had estimates anywhere from $2000 to $3500. I am sure of one thing though, suede inner panels to reduce slipping, and preferably perforated!
I am currently having the seats of my Insight done in two colors of perforated leather for only $1000! I guess the NSX comes with a premium attached

Have you considered looking for someone with black seats who might be willing to just swap their seats for yours?

OK, I'll consider it. If any of you would like to trade your black seats for my '91 Ivory seats let me know.

off topic but why on earth would you want boring black over beautiful ivory?

You'll also have to change carpet, door panels, a-pillars, console, etc.... yikes... not to mention the devaluation; it won't be as rare or as nice IMHO.....

Hey Todd,

Remember you thought I was nuts about my seat discoloration? Acura decided that I was right and ordered me a new seat.

Got it installed today - looks damn pretty but I feel I made backwards progress in that I was hoping that sitting my fat butt enough times would wear out the seat and get me more headroom... tough life owning a new NSX!

Ivory is a lot harder to keep clean than black (especially in Seattle). I admire the Ivory look (I used to own a 91 Red/Ivory) however, I now prefer the black interior.

I have already had custom black carpet with leather edging installed along with some other black leather accents inside the cabin. The Ivory seats are very difficult to maintain and the quality of the '91 leather is not top grade. I don't feel that a custom, higher grade leather will diminish the value of the car any more than most of the Mod's discussed here. I could be wrong though.

Besides, the two tone Blk/Ivry interior looks beautiful. I get alot of favorable comments about the interior and with the addition of black seats the remaining Ivory pieces you mentioned will just become an accent color. The Black will be easier to care for and the quality of newer leather will be better.

I just need to find someone to do it for a reasonable price.

Craig,
I just bought a new Insight (yep, the new hybrid. It's no NSX, but it's clean!) and had leather installed at a great price. As soon as I take delivery and check out the quality I'll let you know if I can recommend this upholsterer. If he can do my NSX seats for the price of this Insight, it's a great deal.

There's an NSX for sale (not mine) where it apparently was originally an ivory interior but seats were traded for black. This person might be interested in swapping her seats for yours, so that she can restore her NSX to its original ivory interior to make it easier to sell.
