Requesting Advice Please

After 13+ years and 82k miles, it is time to replace the suspension. I have performed multiple searches on the Forum however, wanted to Please ask
for input from those with experience. Specifically, I have never tracked my car nor do I plan to. I have driven on many long road trips and at times use it
as a daily driver. The reason for this post is to please request any advice or input. I'm mainly trying to accomplish ride quality, (because I plan on many
more road trips), but also an improvement over the factory suspension.

I have been considering bilstein shocks with H&R Springs however, lowering the height by 1.5" concerns me simply because when I take my kiddos to school,
there are speed bumps in the parking lot. Also the roads in this town have deteriorated miserably :(

any thoughts or advice is MUCH appreciated!
Thanks!

Bilstiens on stock springs is plenty for you. Bilstien claims 7/8 inch lower which typically is 1 inch in my book. Nice ride/height combo. I actually believe someone had a brand new set in classifieds. I love mine.

So I keep the stock springs but only replace the shocks with Bilstien...
Hadn't considered that. :)

At 7/8" or 1" lower, are you able to clear speed bumps ?

I'm with bilsteins/oem springs/oem height for last 15k miles or more. I love it. Unless track duty I'm having hard time justying kw. Bilsteins are that good for the price.

Thank you for the advice!
Much appreciated :)

I will go with bilsteins and oem springs.

I've got the Bilsteins with stock springs on the lower perch. I think that they're perfect. If you approach speed bumps with an angle, you won't have a problem!!!

I recently just went from bilstien with oem springs on lower perch to bilstien upper perch with the HnR springs. I finally have my car where I am happy with the stance and height ... The oem springs in lower perch is nice, but it still just had a lil bit too much fender gap in the rear for my liking with 17/18 set of wheels...the subtle drop going to the HnR made a huge difference in looks to me... I still get up my driveway with no issues and speed bumps too and the ride is a bit more comfy then the worn out springs they replaced. IMO I would recommend just doing it right away to save time and money by avoiding installing twice...

Here is a before and after for you.

Just remember to set them on the lower perch or you've gained nothing.

That's if you stick with Oem springs...remember to put them on upper perch if you go with HnR or you'll be hellaflush and scraping and rubbing everywhere.... Unless you want that:redface:

Just to clear up any sorta confusion for you.

If you don't track your car I think the most cost effective move is Bilsteins lower perch and OEM springs. I think I paid $428 for the shocks. Your springs should still be good on an 02 NSX with that mileage. It lowers your car just enough IMO. And it slightly firms up the ride. Here's a picture of red-nsx's old nsx at the stock hight and my Imola with the Bilsteins just after I installed them. They have settled since that day so my car sits even lower now and the ride quality is great. Of course, you may not stop there as I didn't. To complete my package, I installed the NSX-R chassis stiffening bars and NSX-R sway bars. My car now feels almost like my old 91 NSX (coupe) did rather than the targa it is.

Thank you All for the advice. I went with the Bilsteins, stock springs and must say, it's perfect for what I need; (how often I drive blue).
Ride is much, MUCH improved over the factory shocks which began to feel squishy and, . As everyone mentioned, I did not have any
issues clearing speed bumps :)

I also must admit..... seeing the difference in person... I was amazed how improved the appearance is with a 7/8" / 1" drop; it looks great :)

Thank you again everyone!

Here is a pic I captured today -

I've got a set of Bilsteins sitting here, and a set of OEM S springs, waiting to get time to install them. With the stock perch height and the S springs I'll have a 1/2" drop, which is all I'm looking for. Can't wait to see how it feels with this setup.

BTW, re: "best deal", I originally ordered from the lowest cost supplier I could find, but got caught in a huge shipping delay and then a huge issue getting my card credited. Never again. I ended up ordering from Tire Rack - a few bucks more but in stock and zero problems.

What do you mean by "S springs" (I'm new to the NSX)? Do you have a part number? I don't see Bilsteins for the NSX as being available from Tire Rack - could you provide the model number? Thanks for the help - I'm trying to replace a front shock (and rim) that had deadly encounter with a town-created pot hole..

Sorry, I should have said "Zanardi" springs. Part numbers are front:51401-SL0-J02, rear: 52441-SL0-J01. They came on the Zanardi edition, 1/2" shorter and a little stiffer.

Bilsteins are on this page: http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/...cura&autoModel=NSX&autoYear=1992&autoModClar=
