Hi!

I was looking around throught the FAQ and some threads and couldn't find the answer. What is the advantage of one set up over the other? I have a stock '01. I need new rubber and was debating whether to stay with the current wheels or to upgrade.

The 2002+ have 215/40/17 and 255/40/17 stock. If I upgrade wheels should I go 17x7.5 and 17x?? or should I go 17x7.5 and 18x??. What size rear tires are recommended? I've seen people say anything from 245/40 to 285/30.

The other question is if I stay with the factory rims, should I upsize anything or stay with the stock sizing?

Thanks

Dave

The most common upgrade is 17x8.0 and 18x10.0

Other options are 17x7.5 and 18x9.0 or 9.5

Or even 18x7.5 or 8.0 and 19x9.0, 9.5, or 10.0

The most common and safe front tire is 215-40-17 and a good TCS match is 265-35-18 or 275-35-18

In most peoples opinion a 17/17 looks silly, and is only popular at the track for weight and price savings.

Some people go wider such as a 225 or even 235 fronts, but a perfect offset choice is need to do this, and some minor fender liner rubbing may still occur. That is why 215 widths are reccomended up front. Up to a 315 rear can fit, with a perfect offset choice.

For more in-depth choices, email or PM me.

The most common tire sizes are 215/40-17 and 265/35-18. The best wheel widths for those sizes are 17x7.5 and 18x9.0 or 18x9.5.

If you keep your 16"/17" stock wheels, then your best bet is to stick with the stock size tires. The OEM tires are great if you are looking for great handling and a nice feel. There aren't many aftermarket tires in the stock front size, so if you want to get aftermarket tires, you will probably need to get 205/45-16 fronts to go with the 245/40-17 rears.

For OEM sizing would you say that the Yokos or the Potenzas are better for all around street driving performance and comfort?
Several people have posted here that the Yokos offer better performance. I've never heard anyone comment on one being more comfortable than the other.
