Is anyone having response issues with searches? Lately I do not get a response but timeout or I give up after five to ten minutes.

I haven't noticed any, but I haven't done any searches in a few days.

I generally try to make it easy on the search engine by narrowing the search as much as possible:

- specific forum rather than all forums

- subject only rather than entire contents

- date limit if I know something was recent

"The Ancient Art of Searching Forums"... but wait, shouldn't have the Forum Nazi answered to that question?

I would rather have my students speak for me. It's good training and it shows what they've learned.

I want to say something about grandmothers and eggs... :-D

I generally do entire contents and considering the subject wandering on here (and it is supposed to be a computer) always do entire body which lately doesn't work. I left a search waiting all night - got no results. Often get timeout.

I do use any date as well.

Try "steering effort" - I narrowed to NSX discussion, subject only getting page not found or no answer.

Works for me. I am not able to duplicate this problem or the problem a couple others have now reported about errors posting long messages. Here are the results of the search I just did matching the one you described above:

Continues to fail for me. I've tried a few different things.

I am behind a PIX firewall to the 'Net. I'll run some tests at home (dial-up) and some network tests to see if I can figure out what is happening. I can also bypass my PIX but it hasn't caused problems anywhere else...
