This is my home stereo:

A couple of buttons and a volume knob. Dead simple.

All of the aftermarket head units I've seen regardless of price or size seem to have a ton of buttons and lights. They look cool now but are going to look stupid in 5-10 years.

Does anyone make a simple, timeless head unit in the vein of my home system above?

That's just an amp. The more items you add increases the number of buttons (ie.. CD,DVD,Tape). If you don't need the CD , DVD and Tape then the buttons will be less. Now days all you need is MP3 player support anyways. Be aware that some of the features on a unit like that will only be available with the remote.

Lots of choices out there but here is an example. I know nothing about this particular unit, it looks cool.

The McIntosh and the Nakamichi are both pretty nice.

I use bluetooth audio streaming in my DD so I don't even need a 3.5mm port. Unfortunately I still use the cassette adapter in my NSX.
