I finally found the small Oil leak under the car today and have a couple questions. I went to the parts page and looked it up and where it's leaking is under the Spool Valve Body. It looks like Oil is seeping out of that area and trickling under the Spool Valve Body. Is this a major repair or could it be a gasket or O-Ring any ideas anyone the car is a 91 with 81,000 miles on it.

Steve,

Go here: http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Reference/1991_svcman/engine.htm

Then check the Cylinder Head/Valve Train section Page 6-20. Looks like a rubber o-ring type gasket. Probably no big deal as long as you can easily get to it.

Larry is corect, as always. The spool vale seal is no big deal, HOWEVER, there is a suprise there. The spool valve actually requires two seperate seals to repair a leak, usually. The spool valve itself comes apart in two halves, and there is an o ring seal there PLUS there is an o ring seal between the spool valve and the head, so get both of them when you do this job or you have at least a 50/50 chance of doing the job twice. remove the spool valve from the head, put it in a vise, and remove the three bolts that hold the two halves together.

BTW, neither are exactly o rings. They are kidney shaped rubber seals with small screens molded into them to act as filters. In fact, I believe the parts cdrom calls this part, "spool valve filter assy". Two per valve, 4 per car. Do them all if one leaks, by my reckoning.

Cheers,
Mark
