snap ring range

I have been trying to determine if the snap range car follows a vin range. For example. from 91. vin. 002000 or greater to 92 vin. 001300 or less seems to be in snap ring range. Can any one give a more precise estimate on this, or I am just guessing?

I believe the only way to tell for sure is by the transmission #

I believe the snap ring range transmissions, installed when the car was built, started showing up somewhere around VIN MT002500 in 1991, which ended around MT0032xx, and lasted well into the 1992 model year, which ended around NT0012xx (both sequences are for USM cars). As Brian notes, you must examine the transmission ID to be certain.
