Fellow owners, Wanted to see if I am missing any point.

For stock 1991 NSX with 20500 miles (low miles)

Got quoted by Ed voyles Acura Atlanta for repair of SRS light (Diagnosis Replace SRS unit)

$1500.00

$1200.00 for SRS Kit Part Number 77932-SL0-A81
$300.00 Labor

Did some research online (Snagit enclosed)

SRS kit contains the SRS assy + BOLT, TORX (6X25) part number 90138-SL0-A81 (Retail 1200.00 , Their price 886.26- ACURAPARTSwarehouse.zzz) they have a diag (snagit attached). the price of bolts if purchased separately is $2.32

SRS individual assy Part number 77930-SL0-A80 (SENSOR ASSY., SRS DASH)

Retail 510.19, Their price 382.64.(AcuraOEMparts.zzz)

Do I really need the SRS kit or I can get by with just buying the SRS ASSY.

Any thoughts / advice much appreciated

Thanks

Vic

SRS systems rarely go bad, I would check your clock spring,

have you recently removed the steering wheel? the springy cable ribbon inside the wheel cover
I took of my wheel and couldnt figure out why the Cruise controls would work and SRS light was on. intill other prime members told me about this issue.

and if you havent removed your wheel. they go bad do to age. and getting brittle in the sun etc. etc.

the new cable reel is i think 130 from the dealership.

have you tried driving your car and turning on/setting the cruise to see if it works.

would save lots of money if this is what the problem is.

Thanks for the suggestion

Have not removed the wheel.

Will try the clock spring issue checked.

Also Will check the cruise control functionality.

Snowed out in Atlanta today for next couple of days will do the cruise control check immediately after that.

Thanks

Please disregard the earlier message about the 2 part numbers. My mistake.

I do need the kit (which is different from the sensor)

Did extensive reading on the forums and will do few other checks regarding SRS.

Thanks

Any update?

My SRS light came on last week. It's 1991 with 19k miles. My mechanic checked the cable reel but it was not the problem. Turned out to be SRS Control unit. I was also quoted $1200 for new unit but local Acura dealer said part is discontinued and can not be order:confused:

Were you able to order a new SRS Control Unit?
