Recently noticed that my SRS light came ON and stayed since. Anything I need to worry immediately? Any advise to share?

Cheers

Your hose reel behind the steering wheel is probably going bad. My SRS light would come on when the wheel was turned in certain positions. Then one day it stayed on forever. Check for continuity between the two connectors and it was a goner. Reel is expensive as all hell!!!!

I hope this is not your problem. Does your cruise still work? Mine died a few weeks after the light came on. What made me finally fix it was when the horn died. All 3 are controlled through the reel.

Good luck!!

Good question. I observed it like couple weeks back. My cruise control still works. Is there anything I can do now to avoid Reel going bad by any chance? Otherwise just wait for eventual situation of fixing it?

Thanks for input.

I don't know if there is anything you can do to slow this down or reverse the problem. I had mine apart and I saw no way of repairing it. I guess it could be soldered if you could find the break. I delayed it as long as I could and then searched for a used reel.

There might be other things that could make the light come on, this was just my personal experience. Let me know if I can help.

If you had aftermarket stereo head unit installed, check the harness.
Sometimes the unit could push the SRS harness out of position.
Hope this will help.

I'll ask parts tomorrow at work if they can do any better. Brian, Chris and I buy enough to hook a brother up!!!

Be sure to post a price here since my horn is inop and the SRS light is glowing a bright red!! Sounds like GB territory!

Here's another bizarre cause. I had problems with my a/c evaporator (the piece inside the dash) and the drain hole was plugged and I'd get water flowing into the passenger footwell. Shortly thereafter the SRS light came on. Once I got the drain problem fixed .. and everything dried out, the SRS light went off and hasn't been on since. Check your passenger carpet to see if it's wet. The other clue was that when the a/c came on, I'd get fine droplets of water in the airflow (because there was water still sitting in the condensation catcher which normally drains outside).
