In a few days it will be the third anniversary since I've owned my '91. Even now when I open the garage door I'm impressed by it's breathtaking lines. After 35 years of driving and well over 25-30 cars owned I can think of only one other car that gave me the same performance and visual satisfaction. In '72 I purchased a Datsun 240Z. The car for its time presented it's owner with great performance and one of a kind looks. Unfortunately because of military service I had to sell the car after only a couple years of ownership. I can remember back then, having the same sensation when opening my garage door. I can say in this case my NSX is going nowhere.

This is like looking in the mirror for me. Coming up on six years of owning, in my mind as well of lot's of others, the greatest sports car ever built. Period.

I've owned Lotus and Porsche's in the past but nothing comes close to the driving experience and feel the NSX provides. Very similar to my first real sports car I purchesed in the eighties, a 1971 Datsun 240Z. A "poor man's Ferrari" they called it, but it also had stunning good looks, decent power, great aftermarket parts, reliable, durable, easy to work on, decent autocrosser, and a blast to drive. I should have never sold it. I know I'll never sell the NSX.

Hearing from you and your intent to keep your cars is refreshing. I have a 1997 Kaiser Silver and I agree with everything you say. The car's performance and appearance is outstanding as well as its reliability. Mine's at Huntington Autowave getting the belts, seals and water pump replaced. I miss stepping into the garage just to look at it and can't wait to get it back. Keep your NSX forever; there is nothing like it.

Re: Datsun ..yes

Fond memories....I had a 260Z 2+2 5 speed British racing green, chrome nudge bar at the front, body coloured louvres on the rear [crickey who remembers them  ] bought it 2nd hand with low k's still with the original cartridge player  ...this was my 2nd car...it ran sick when I first got it, woeful [over here in Aussie heat] with japanese complex copies of SU carbs..so a rally specialist here showed me the way ripping all the original carbs off and putting on a set of proper SUs on it, all the piping and bits removed filled a fruit box !!..and the car went fabulously for years, an easy 'chirp' into 2nd gear and 30 mpg on a triip...sadly had to sell it as the 2nd baby came along...many years later the babies have all but grown up..now just wanting to fight each other to get a seat in the NSX

I agree. I had a 1992 NSX and sold it so I can finish up school. At the time, I had the 2002 Honda S2000 and 2002 BMW 330 CIC.

I Bought the NSX for the exotic look, legendary handling, and historically low maintenance. The Honda S2000 was bought since I love the convertible feeling and the nice 9K redline was magic. It only fit two people, so I picked up a '02 BMW Convertible. Out of all those cars, nothing feels better than the NSX.

When I put all my cars for sale, It was less than a few days that someone picked up the NSX for nearly my asking price! The Honda S2000 was sold a week after. The BMW on the other hand, I'm still trying to find a buyer. Maybe because it's a manual?

For those debating if an older NSX is not as great as the newer sport cars, i.e.. S2000, M3, 350Z, etc. please test drive a well maintain NSX and see for yourself. It's no mystery those who sold the NSX end up picking one up later-- it's that good!

This thread made me smile because it is so much like me in that I still love my NSX's even after over 6 years of NSX ownership. Today I walked in to do some work and had to turn around and look at my car once....twice...three times....and finally a fourth time!! I smiled every time I looked at it and thought, 'Man...I am one lucky guy to have a car like this,' and I felt like I was on top of the world. The feeling stayed with me even as I was driving it through a huge rain storm on the way home thinking, 'Man...I cannot believe that some people are afraid of a little rain when it comes to driving their NSX.'

The really funny part is that people used to tell me that this feeling would go away in a few months and the thrill of owning the car would subside.....well, it has been about 6 years and I feel MORE excitement now than before. So much for those other people and their theory. ;)

I can echo Mitch's thoughts as I have had my '91 NSX for 6 years and enjoy it as much know as when I bought it. I have never kept a car this long and I have no desire to part with it.

I'd like to pipe in for anybody who has any doubts at all about buying an [used] NSX: Do it!

Best car I ever bought. (that would be "period", ever)

Five years now, daily driver, car has a 105,000 miles on it....I still like going out and looking at it. There is nothing I know of that can replace it---at any price.

I don't want to buy another car*, this car is simply amazing, even the castings are pure art.

The car is starting to show wear: lots of rock chips, the ivory interior is starting to yellow, windshield is getting pitted. I've had the ignition switch and main relay go out in the past 10-12 months.

But still, the most problem free and enjoyable car. Ever.

Drew

*The Ford GT is calling my name, but I'm pretty sure it can't stand up to daily driving, comfort and mantainence free.

Only time I frown at my NSX is when it's dirty. I normally wash my own car rather than sending it to a carwash shop. I rather the scratch was my doing if any. One day my smile would be broaden if I own an F355 or 348.

A month from now, I'll be approaching eight years of NSX ownership. Have no desire to let it go. The other day my friend drove my NSX on the freeway with me following behind. I took a good look at my NSX in motion and it looks bad ass. There's no way I can part with this car. It just too good of a car to give up for anything else. I don't think I'll be happy with any other sports car knowing how great and reliable the NSX has been so far.

I originally bought my car as a trial. The plan was that if I liked it enough, I would sell it to get a '97+. Turns out, I much prefer a coupe over a targa and do not like red. Maybe one day I'll buy a Zanardi and repaint it. Five and a half years later, I'm another who can say they are still in love.

After five years of ownership (can't believe it's been that long), I can still honestly say "reality is better than the dream." This morning was beautiful...a perfect day to drive along the coast with the top off. Unfortunately, I was driving to the office, but at least I had good reason to smile the whole way.

Hi from NM.

I had a '91 NSX and sold it to buy a Boxster.
Not sure what I was thinking at the time, except for the fact that I had just moved to NM and wanted a convertible.

Two months later, my Boxster was for sale and I eventually found a spa yellow '98 targa 6spd.

No car has ever given me the pleasure, excitement, ego-trip, and reliability that my NSXs have.

I agree with the previous thread. If you're ever contemplating selling your NSX, have someone else drive it while you drive in another car. Look at your car on the road and then decide whether you really want to sell it or not.

I have been driving an NSX now for 5 years and will never give it up again.

I've had my '96 for over 3 years now and still admire its looks. Ever park your NSX an start to walk away, then pause to turn around to look at it? Well, I find myself doing that frequently! Over the years I've had some nice rides, but the NSX is the best. I sold a great '96 300ZX Twin Turbo to buy the NSX and have never regretted it.

Lately, I've been considering selling the NSX and getting something that I'm comfortable driving every day, but everytime I drive it I change my mind!

Tonight, I'm taking my wife to look at/buy a new 2005 Infiniti G35 Coupe and even though it's a very nice car, I'll undoubtedly prefer to drive my bright red NSX!

I was on the way home from Indianapolis and saw a beautiful Sebring Silver NSX going south on I-69 and I thought to myself, 'Man...that is one beautiful car,' and felt better about knowing that I get to drive one every day. Life is good when you are smiling all the time. :D

I don't have an NSX (yet), but reading this thread makes not having one almost unbearable!

I've promised myself to save up the $30-35k cash first before buying the NSX, but the itch gets worse every day. I want to scratch it with a big fat auto loan.... *sigh*.

Thanks for the great read, gentlemen :) keep 'em coming!

It's only been a little more than four months for me. But I get butterflies in my stomach ever time I open the garage door and see my '05 sitting there. :D

I just think it is fun to have a car that you enjoy so much that when you see another one on the road you still love it as much as you did before you had one. :)

Great stuff from everyone, I echo all the comments. I am coming up on one year of driving pleasure. It is the best purchase I have ever made, and I get buyer's remorse from buying a pair of socks.

The car is perfect in EVERY way. This site is awesome BTW. I can't relate to anyone else when it comes to my NSX but the crew here speaks my language.

I hope I don't make the mistake of ever selling my NSX, I know it can't be replaced, except by another.

I think I need to go for a drive, I am all pumped up now....later.
