Here is your fb invite. Go here and mark if you're attending or not. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=142618962476889

We’re planning to meet on Saturday afternoon, May 14th at 1pm at the Riverview Rest Stop on the MO side of the Mississippi River at Chain of Rocks. The lot is at the NW corner of I-270 and Riverview Drive on Dunn Road. (see attached map)

Departure will be at 1:30 pm. We’ll take I-270 Westbound to Rte. 367, which we’ll take north to Alton IL, crossing the beautiful Alton Bridge. At that point, we’ll head through town to pick up th...e Great River Road (Rte 3) through Elsa and Grafton, passing Piasa Bird Park, Raging Rivers and the Brussels Ferry to Pere Marquette State Park.

After a repast, we’ll convoy up again and head up to the bluffs through the park with opportunities to stop, take photos and enjoy the spring colors and the views of the Illinois River Valley below. Continue on the bluff road back down as it joins Rte 3.

From there, we'll head back in town for dinner and drinks at Fast Eddies Bonair. http://fasteddiesbonair.com/

What to bring:

* Camera
* Binoculars
* FRS radio if you have one (convoys are much more fun when you can talk)
* A clean car (because we’ll all be looking at each others rides)

We look forward to a great response and a fun day. Please plan to join us!

For those of us not wanting Facebook in our lives, could you list the attendees and just edit this post with them as they come in? And not being familiar with IL, where is that meet place?
THX.

Sorry!

The Piasa Bird is in Alton. I'll post some directions tonight.

So far, we have 14+ cars commited to going.

Once we arrive into Alton, our first stop will be the Argosy Casino parking lot to meet up with the 2nd group of cars. From there, we'll start the Great River Road Cruise, stopping at various scenic rest stops for pictures, then come back through for dinner at Fast Eddies.

If I can find someone driving a windowless van to watch the kids that afternoon, I will be there. :tongue:

Sorry, I would have sent you an invite earlier but your facebook page went MIA :eek:

Damn that is graduation weekend for a friend of mine and I'll be out of town. Take lots of pictures!

I'll be busy making bad decisions in kansas.

I thought I was the only dinosoar not on Facebook - LOL.

Tomorrow may be a little wet and we may want to have a backup place to Fast Eddies. The last time we went there it was standing room only, you'd die of thirst before you'd even get to order a beer and you can't even hear yourself think. Saturday night at Fast Eddies is a good place to find a drunk chic to take home, but not a good place to relax and talk rides (the Loading Dock comes to mind).

My $.02

Right on brother! I rejoined facebook for like 4 hours last month. I hated myself for it and deleted it again. :biggrin:

Yeah, but you're just scared of old women finding you! :biggrin:

I'm not too familiar with Alton, is the Loading Dock near by? I'm fine for whatever.

My cell is 618-541-1828

If it's STORMING bad, we're just going to reschedule for the following weekend.

The Loading Dock (graftonloadingdock.com) is north of Alton in Grafton on the river road on the river side. The food is good and reasonable and they have a lot of seating, both indoor and out. They have live music this time of year on Saturday from 6pm to 10pm.
Just a thought after the Fast Eddies experiece last year.

Sounds good to me! Thanks for the heads up!

Looks like a nice place!

Illinois folks are meeting at Border in Fairview Heights at 12pm, to start our trip to STL. We'll meet at 1pm at the Riverview Rest Stop on the MO side of the Mississippi River at Chain of Rocks. The lot is at the NW corner of I-270 and Riverview Drive on Dunn Road.

As far as the weather, I'm gonna watch for the worst and hope for the best. Either way, my car is a big ball of dirt at the moment anyway. Haven't had time to get it cleaned up since I got it back from the body shop.

Maybe if it rains I'll have an excuse to put my new blower belt on...:redface:
