OK I really need some opinions here. I really like the OEM 02+ wheel style and have wanted to keep it. But here are my issues:

1) Stoptech BBK requires spacers which added $300+ cost.
2) I have to machine the wheels so I can fit some decent looking aftermarket lugnuts on there as my factory ones no longer fit with the ARP bolts. Another $300
3) If I keep them I think I want to go different color, and that will cost yet another $2-300.

I can probably get $1500-2000 for my OEM wheels (they have some curb rash so might be under 2K). So lets say $1800 for my OEM's. 300 for spacers, 300 for machining, 300 for painting, and I am at $2700. I was looking around the internet and found Advan RS's for $2.5K in 17x8 and 18x10... the pluses are:

1) The Advan RS is an incredibly light wheel. Lighter than NSX-R wheels and definitely lighter then my OEM, although the OEM's are forged.
2) I have a black stoptech BBK and the wide open design of the RS allows the brakes to be seen a lot better than my current OEM's.
3) The wider Advan wheels may allow me to run a wider variety of tires like a 235 up front for the track and a 265/275 in the rear.

I don't like most wheels with lips. You lose overall size (visually), and I just don't like this "ring" around dark spokes. Just not my style.

Here is a photoshop kindly done for me by midnight raven of the car with wheels a darker color... perhaps gunmetal. I also plan on getting the carbon DFR side scoops like curtsr has on his car to match my DF carbon rear wing. So it'll be an all silver/gunmetal/black sorta theme.

What would you do? please give me some opinions. I am open to all ideas. I thought about some BC forged wheels but they are all 18 minimum, I am not sure I want to extra size and weight of an 18/19 setup. Plus I am not sure many of them will clear my stoptechs. Help...

Don't ever sell your OEM wheels. You will regret it if you decide to sell your car one day. If you are debating on changing out wheels make me think you can do without them. I would do this- Keep your OEM wheels in storage and get some RS's 17/18in gunmetallic. It will look ridiculously awesome.

DONE.

Don't make this anymore complicated. I don't want to see anymore threads/polls/requests for photochops.

So from a pure looks standpoint, you like the RS better than OEM in any color?

RS's look 1,000,000 times better than the OEM wheels. If it were me I'd just sell the OEM wheels, because I would NEVER go back to OEM. Get the RS's in gunmetal, you won't regret it. Your car deserves some proper wheels, you have everything else.

Could donate your OEM wheels to me:biggrin:

I agree don't get rid of the OEM wheels. I would go aftermarket wheels IMHO.

what about rz? also are you getting the df r side ducts

I don't like the RZ as much. It's spoke pattern is not really a double 5 spoke, I don't know what it is but the few pics I saw didn't do it for me. Yes, I am going to get the DF-R scoops I am pretty sure. It will match my rear carbon wing and pickup some dark colors of the wheels and I think it's aggressive.

I don't belive that dark wheels make a silver car look more agressive, I think they make the car look older and "tired". Silver Advan RS would give your car a fresh and elegant look, especially that your calipers are black...

Plus dark gunmetal on Advan RS is practically black.

The RS-II looks more or less the same, but it's got cuts on the side of the spokes, and im sure it lighter also , you can be the first on a nsx to try em out

I can help. Sell me your OEM wheels. Then, curtsr's set-up (especially in person) is fantastic! Those cf "gills" on your silver-rock will rock and match your new wagon-wheels.

There, all done.

Even lighter.... wow the RS is one light wheel already, that's intriguing.

In 20 minutes 3 people have expressed interest (2 through PMs) about my OEM wheels. It's weird so many say yeah change them but if these wheels are not good looking, why do so many people want them?

I think the 02+ are the best looking wheels for the NSX, period. Honda really got it right. After experimenting with aftermarket, almost everyone eventually returns to stock wheels, and the 02+ are the most rare and good looking. Also, the factory wheels are super light. The guys at the tire shop could not believe how light my 02+ wheels were for their size.

Keep the oem and get the RS just in case you need stock wheels in the future. Personally I don't get the fascination with the 02+ oem wheels. I would sell them if I have them.

BC Forged wheels are available in 17/18 sizes- get another set and keep the oem wheels regardless. They used to sell for $2500/set FWIW.

Maybe a few, most BC forged start with 18" :frown:

+1 excellent advise regarding keeping the OEM wheels, it will cost a hell of a lot more than $1800-$2000 to find a set of 02+ wheels in the future when the car needs to go back to stock for one reason or another.

The Advan RS are cast wheels but relatively light IIRC (have as set for my P-car). Plenty of caliper clearance for a BBK, one thing to remember is that for any track work a 235 front tire will work best so need to keep that in mind when choosing offsets for the front wheel.

oem's are nice when your stock height, but when lowered it looks to sunken in. of course spacers can help, but like you said its added cost. i think with your stance advan's would look awesome!!

They aren't sunken in. They are flush. I already have spacers, but that was to clear the stoptechs more than anything.
