Last night my 97 NSX-T got stolen from my driveway. I usually sleep like a log, so I did not notice the car was gone until 9:30 this morning, when I noticed a police car at my neighbor's house, they were taking a report about a stolen stereo. Obviously, these crooks were going house to house, and after my neighbor got hit, they came into my driveway and must have noticed that I had left the valet key on the passenger seat....... making for an easy joyride (Ihope). they never even touched my 91 NSX or my Jag, Mercedes, or any of the other cars.

If anyone sees a black NSX-T with tan interior, round (Comptech) tailpipes, 17/18 inch 3-piece chrome/gloss black rims and the antenna stuck in extended position, AOPA sticker in rear window lower center,
"I'd rather be flying" front license plate frame.
Most likely this car will be in the So-Cal Orange county area,
license # 6MKM906
Please cal 714-914-8686 if spotted. THANKS 4 LOOKING!!

Did you have LOJACK?

heres a some verbage from their site.

Car theft is big business in the U.S. and throughout the world.
Approximately, one million cars were stolen last year alone.
That's a theft once every 32.2 seconds, and more than $6.5 billion in annual losses.

Most car thieves are part of extremely organized crime rings and
know how to steal any car they want.
Locked doors won't stop them and security systems don't scare them off.

You can't really stop someone from stealing your car.
But you can help Police track and recover your car quickly with LoJack -
the only Stolen Vehicle Recovery System operated by the Police.

With LoJack, you have a 90% chance of recovering your vehicle --
usually within 24 hours and often within just a few hours.

heres the link http://www.lojack.com/Pages/recovery-monitoring.aspx

I hope they find these bastards.

they probably wouldnt have taken it if the spare key wasnt inside the car.

lesson learned!

good luck

The only bad thing with Lojak is you get your car back after somebody stole it.

I'd almost rather wait a few days before reporting it so I get an opportunity to get another one....one that hasn't been trashed, disassembled, damaged, etc.

No on most questions.....
No Lo-Jack
No full coverage ( I pay cash for my cars, need liability only...) so if not found, total loss.....
My dog sleeps like I do...

Boy that stinks. I hope they find it. Is insurance out your way very expensive? I ask because I'm insuring my NSX for about 5-600 bucks a year. I can't imagine that liability costs much less.

If nothing else this post should make everyone lock their doors and hide their keys.

Good luck.

Sorry to hear about this. I've been the victim of car theft and it's a terrible feeling. Hopefully it was just some kids who took it for a joy ride and it'll be found in a bad part of town. Lojack is usually no help

I'm a bit confused as to why you didn't have theft coverage. It's usually a part of the comprehensive collision. Not having it is just like leaving a pile of cash on the kitchen counter, or in your case the key on the seat.

This brings up a chance for me to offer my services. If anyone has any alarm/fuel cut/remote start needs, let me know. Unfortunately for the OP, I am on the East Coast and its after the fact. I hate thieves!!! All in favor of the death penalty for Auto theft? Say, "I". .. ...... I!

WOW!! No full coverage?
I pay cash for my cars too and only have to carry minimum liablity, but gheez not worth the risk.

On my 95 I only carried Comprehensive, which covered, Fire, Theft and Vandalism, only cost me about $120 a year!

When I added collision that raised me about 25%.

I hope you find it!

I'm sorry to hear about this. But, I agree it is alarming since Anaheim isn't too far from me. I will keep an eye out around my area. There are only a handful of nsx's I see driving around here, so it won't be hard to spot if somehow it made its way around this area.

Considering how rare the NSX is, it shouldn't be hard to spot at all on the road.

But, the reality is the police are completely worthless are finding stolen property, and im sure they wont do anything

Bummer man. I've been a victim of thefts and break-ins. Hope things turn out well. :frown: Since it's local I'll keep an eye out. Good thing about the NSX is they stick out like a sore thumb. Now if you had a Porsche, in Southern Cal, good luck getting the particular one spotted, those are a dime a dozen out here.

So, let me get this straight. You live in an area that is almost the car theft capital of the world (especially for import cars like the NSX), and you do not carry ANY theft insurance on (2) NSXs, a Mercedes, and a Jag? Sorry man, but that just makes no sense. If you have enough money to pay cash for all of those cars you should know enough to spring for car insurance to cover theft. I mean, heck, with that logic...why have health insurance either? Just pay out of pocket for any surgeries that you may need! The financial risk is almost the same. As for leaving the keys IN a car that does not have theft insurance, outside, in a high car theft area.....ugh.

That said, I hope you find your car. It sucks that it got snatched. Post pics so that people can see what it looks like.

What do people even do with stolen NSX's?

My gut says it will turn up somewhere, but you should report it to the police, so if it does turn up, or gets pulled over, its VIN is reported as stolen and they will know to contact you.

EDIT: According to your signature its and Automatic '97 NSX? According to the NSX Prime wiki, there are only 19 Black/Tan NSX-Ts with an Auto tranni ever made. And only 1 was made in 1997...that should narrow it down.

they probably take them right down to mexico. and GONE.

no title needed there. you dont need insurance etc.

if you get pulled over HOLD YOUR LICENSE UP TO THE WINDOW and press it against the glass so he can read it

do-not
roll your window down and hand it to the Mexican Cop they will take it and you will have to pay them to get it back before you can drive away.

this was on an Oprah Show they were talking about this.

LOL..........I'm going to assume you've never driven in Mexico and been pulled over by the local policia let alone the federales..........

try telling them I'm not going to give you my license and see if they dont drag you out of your car and beat the shit out of you and then take the money you were going to have to give to them anyway............
