Strange Noise!

I have discovered a strange noise originating from somewhere in the engine compartment when the engine is off, and the key is not in the ignition. It sounds like a faint fog horn that lasts for 1.5 seconds and occurs every 20 seconds. It is coming from under the coolant overflow bottle or somewhere in that vicinity. Any ideas or thoughts to what this can be? TIA.

Does this noise come after driving the car for while? I had a noise coming out before that started after I drove the car for a while and parked. I finally found out that it was my coolant bottle leaking very slightly. Sometimes the bottle cracks where you can;t see it..

dr. lane, not much help here, but I have the exact same problem. I'll keep an eye on this thread, hopefully someone can help us out. If you figure it out on your own please let me know.

Several months ago, I had the same problem !

Solution : Replace the coolant bottle who was leaking !
