street racing safe???

Is it really street racing if it's 3am on a private runway and you're the only car there?

Actually, now that I think about it, I wonder if there WERE other cars there. Hmmmmm.

(Not that I'm for street racing in any way, but lets not start lumping all acts of speed, erratic behavior, and just plain poor judgment into one category of "street racing". I'd prefer to keep them separate.)

Most people who are into street racing are not "racing" drivers. Therefore they have high chances of killing themselves and others. Even if there is no competition. Any car pushed to its limits in the hands of an amateur driver is asking for disaster/death. Heck, even professionals can lose it and die.

Because street racing is never in a controlled environment, there are virtually no rules/no safety requirements. 16 year olds have no driving skills but they can blast down a street full of spectators in their neon SRT4 at WOT.

I wondered that too! I wonder if they checked his PM box on the M5 forum if there would find someone was going to meet him out there? So sad!

I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't a few spectators involved...time will tell if anyone steps forward.

Heck, there may have even been a video camera in the car...sounds like they were trying to break a ground speed record, so they might have been taping it. Some new things may come to light soon. (Kinda like the kids taunting the Tiger)
