UPDATE: Sub boxes are done! Ready for orders.

FINALLY!! Here are some pics of the new Tool Box! The orange pics are of the tooling. The finished box is black gel coat. It is the prototype, so it is a little rough. The end result will be VERY slick!!

As you can see in the pic, the box is all fiberglass. I set the speaker into the box 1 1/2" It makes the speaker grill flush to the face of the box with minimal volume loss. BUT, saves the need of a wood flush out front. Less loss of floor space! The depth is 6 3/8" The pic shows a JL 10W3v2 installed with grill. It is a deep speaker.

NO ONE can touch the quality or design of this box

Here is the new price list:

Option 1: Box set up for most 10" with wire, connectors, nut plates, Allen head bolts, and polyfil $450.+ shipping/packing

Option 2: With JL 10W1v2 drilled and installed with grill $600.+ shipping/packing

Order by option # please!

Here are some pics!!

Re: Here it is! "NEW TOOL BOX" Sub Box!!

Hal, you are a sick man. :) There are some really nice details he's leaving out and I'll let him speak to those later. But a lot of the stuff that would make an installer say "wow" you'll not be able to see at first glance. Keep up the good work and thanks for putting out such a great product for the community.

Re: Here it is! "NEW TOOL BOX" Sub Box!!

That looks great!
The flush mounting is a plus for me.
Any discount for trading in a 1.5 year old competitor's box?

Will you have to move the p\s unit on newer cars?
Steve

Malibu Rapper's car has the power steering unit. It sets above the box. I test fit it in his car. You can contact him to see if he did anything special. From what I have seen it will fit all.
Thanks,
Hal

Yes, unfortunately the power steering computer needs to be moved since it takes up so much space. The good thing is, moving it is pretty easy if you follow these excellent instructions by Inexcess.

You will want to clear out the mounting brackets as well. A hammer and chisel should make quick work of them. Some of them are easily pryed out. Here are some pix courtesy of Vega$ nsx. Basically, you will want to remove any bracket our mounting tab that will prevent the box from pushing all the way back. You'll want to move the yellow SRS harness up and out of the way as well.

Does the box fit over the carpet or behind it? How much for a CF front section and are the boxes shipping now?

Here are some updated pics and info.

See the new nut plates I found to make installation easier. These are aerospace hardend steel self locking nut clips.

Pics of new box installed. Speaker is inset flush, no wood build out is needed. Less loss of foot space.

how much leg you do you loose??

I did not measure the original. I will find one to measure and post the findings. The space lost is not an issue for anyone who has been in the car of any of the boxes installed.

Sometimes to make advancements, something has to give.
