Supercharger or turbo okay for automatic?

I remember reading somewhere that NSX automatics shouldn't have superchargers or turbos installed due to the engine not being strong enough to handle the extra power. Does anyone have any information on this? I would love some extra power for my '91 automatic, but I don't want to do anything that may hurt the engine. Thanks.

I don't think it's the engine you have to worry about. If memory serves me correct, it's the tranny thats the weak link. That's why the auto tranny in the late models come with the 3.0ltr engine.

If that's the case, the tranny being the weak link, can it be modified to handle a blower, or am I out of luck?

I believe there are some automatic owners that had the Comptech SC installed. Mark Basch doesn't think his supercharger is a good idea for an automatic.

I'm planning NOS for my 91 and I'll get more serious with my next NSX :)
