Anyone know why the gauge is flaking? Check bulbs & they're good. Even replace with new ones, checked just to make sure it comes on & when brake pedal is engaged, gauge still shows lamps are out even though they're not. (scratching my head??)
I would have to rule that out since there are no signs of mice droppings or any kind of bite marks when looking at the wiring & the whole tail lamp assemblies. Plus the storage that it's in is very clean. Gotta be something loose or oxidation somewhere not making good contact, just dont know where i should start.
Larry B where you at?
The current flow through the lamps picks up a couple of relays. The contacts of those relays are wired in series. If either one of the relays don't pick up the indicator lights up. Place to start would be in back and check the relays and then the signal from there contacts. Having the ETM, service manual and a vom you should be able to isolate the problem being in the back or in the display.
Mine does it every so often but it's hit and miss. No bulbs out though. My drivers door open indicater use to come on occasionally but has stopped.
I've learned to live with it since it's rare.
