Tan Mats discontinued - help?

Honda/Acura doesn't supply tan floor mats any longer for pre '02 MY. I've searched several dealers/internet OEM sales with no success.
Anyone got a vendor. I really want new ones.

How close in color is the "light tan" mats from '02+ MY. Also, it looks like they are shaped differently. How do they fit?

Last, how expensive is the visible carpeting? Would it match my tan trim if I updated to '02+ MY?

Thanks.

You may need to clarify your inquiry; are you referring to the ivory or the tan for pre 02? Ivory has been discontinued for some years.

For tan, we offer a more durable floor mat than OEM. It has 85-90% match with your floor carpeting, and closer to 95% to your tan seats - depending on how soiled you floor carpet/seats are. The tan come in black border and logo as well.

The tan comes in black, red and tan border, as well as most of the NSX colors for logo.

Thanks I'll be giving you a call.
As far a clarifying color, I have a 95 red w/tan interior. According to the hondafloormat.com site tan is the official color. I think ivory was on black/purple cars, etc. Either way mine is definitely not ivory.

I was going to say this site but tan is no longer avaiable like you said.

The 02+ may work as the shape/tabs are the only diff. I see. The color seems to be a match.

Yeah I pulled up two browsers with the older and newer pictures from that site. It sure looks like they're the same except for the tabs at the bottom of the mat and the hole for the carpet hook which I can take care of easily.

Can anyone confirm how close the newer "light tan" is to my tan? I'll call the local acura dealer tomorrow but I'd be surprised if they had a set of the light tan mats in stock that I could look at.

When I sold my 95 NSX-T to John O'Neil, my original tan floor mats went with the car plus a near mint set of mats I put in the trunk. The original mats looked great but I had a dime sized spot on the driver's mat so purchased another set just in case I ever sold the car.

If you want, track John down (he's on Prime now) and he just might sell you one of the sets. They are definitely hard to find.

Good luck!

Thanks.
Good tip - I've PMed him.

I found an 02 for sale not that far away and it just happens to be blue/tan. Maybe I can get a look at it.

Here's something you may want to consider. Use black mats. I have them with my tan interior and it looks great. They match up very well with the dash.

Interesting idea. Do you have any pics.

I struck out at the review of an 03 I found at a local dealer. That one had tan interior and I was hoping to see his shade of tan mats. Weird but he had dark gray mats. I'm think they were changed by the previous owner.

Either way I did not suceed in viewing the newer "light tan" mats.

I purchased a set of aftermarket mats which were supposed to be black with tan stitching; when they arrived, the stitching was white, and they clashed with the tan interior. (I believe the oem black mats are the same color, and will suffer from the same issue).

I recently picked up a set of NOS tan mats on ebay, from an Acura dealership - I think this is your only way for a good-looking solution, another issue I had with the aftermarket mats (they were from hrant), was they kept getting in the way of my pedals - I am not sure if its the rubber mounting system, or the cut of the mats, but I have never had this issue with the oem floor mats.

Good luck.

John, this is the first time I hear that our mats are getting in the way of the pedals since we started offering these custom mats back in 2002; and we have sold too many not to have encountered a similar feedback! Given the thickness of our mats 32 oz. (thicker than the OEM), you should not have the issue. The fit is actually better than the OEM and our mats move less if at all. The rubber backing shouldn't make a difference. Perhaps you had a set that may have had a manufacturing issue - mistake do happen and we are happy to address them and you already knew that our mats have limited lifetime warranty. Send me some pics of your concerns with the mats in and outside the car so we can assess what the issue is.

The OEM mats are not black. They are charcoal at best.

As for the tan color logo, I beg to disagree with you. The link is of my mats, the same that you saw prior to your purchase and at the time you noted it looked good. Please send me a picture of the embroidered logo to confirm if indeed it was the tan logo embroidered or not.

The tan color is far from being white and does match the interior as I tested in on my own car after several trials with other threads. But because of the sheen of the threads, the logo may reflect light differently depending from which angle you look at it. In fact we have silver and white threads as well and when you put them next to the tan you will clearly see the difference.

Yes I'm interested to see your issues resolved.

I've lost momentum working on other issues with the car.
But basically I'm still thinking about ordering the 02+ "light" tan OEM mats.

Again does anyone have the newer and older style tan OEM mats to compare shades of color? That'd be a great help.

I will call Hyrant also.
Thanks.

Can anyone comment if the newer OEM tans mats are close enough that it doesn't matter - before I buy them?

if i may comment,

my '91 is/was ivory, almost everything in that color is being discontinued, and trying to keep it original is getting more difficult.

I have decided to change color scheme, red/black, some of the ivory parts will be red others black. Leather seats: red/black, carpets/mats: red, door/center console leather/vinil = red.

try considering doing this too. no pictures yet, still in progress.

If I might suggest, you are going about this the wrong way and let me help you why.

1) You have a 1995 tan interior. That is 13 years old now. Over time, the interior mats will change their coloration based on how well they have been maintained and how often cleaned with chemicals. The same is true with the tan leather seats. And if you look carefully, the tan leather seats and tan floor mats do not match perfectly. They are about 85%-90% color match. And even in a brand new car, the floor mats may have some variation as to when they were produced and with what dye batch .........

2) So you are better off checking a new OEM tan with your interior tan conditions prior to a purchase.

Having said this, our tan mat is also not a 100% match because of the same reasons. Ours in terms of color tone/match is between a new OEM tan interior and new OEM leather seats. That was the best we could after months of searching for a mill that could match a sample. If you can live with our color, they offer superior value and durability.

And as an FYI, I still have not heard from scorp965!

Edit: typos ...

The thread was moved, and I did not see it; I have no secret agenda here, I am not selling a different variety of mats, I am only relaying the experience I had with a set of mats I purchased from you. I can take pictures as soon as I get my car back from paint, in a few days.

I used the mats I purchased for about 2 weeks, the reason I didn't seek a refund, is that I hoped they would grow on me, but when I found a set of tan OEM mats I snapped them up. I was very disappointed with the text, which appears white to me, and doesn't match my tan interior, and the cut of these mats, which interfered with my pedals, as I mentioned. I am not sure if these issues are particular to my set of mats, or are indicative of a larger problem - I would be inclined to believe they were unique to my set of mats, or there would be significant displeasure with your product, which doesn't appear to be the case.

_however_ I stand by my recommendation for the OP, which is to try and source replacement OEM tan mats.

Scorp965, as I said, we stand behind our products 100% and will take care of any issues within the limited lifetime warranty.

While we have not heard of your complaint from any other customer, that doesn't mean your issue may not be valid. Just send me some pics in and outside the car so I can validate/verify that this was indeed a unique case with your mats.

Out of curiosity, have you made any changes to your pedals or driver side floor pan? Has the floor carpeting been removed and reinstalled?
