OK, so they really don’t actually fly, but last thing that is a laughing matter about our new Shallow Mount Transducers is their ability to perform. These miniature monsters feature a neodymium slug you may only typically find in an ultra high performance subwoofer, and with a Bl2 over Re of nearly 160, there is no denying their awesome performance. The TC-SMT can literally embarrass drivers multiple times their size and weight, and did we mention the 10” size boosts an output of nearly 86dB with just 1 watt of power thanks to a powerful motor and a light weight dual layer fiberglass honeycomb flat piston diaphragm? The TC-SMT is a respectable transducer by itself, but the fact it has a mounting depth of just 3” just goes to show what TC can create given limited constrains.

The TC-SMT will be available in a ten and twelve inch cone size with either an aluminum or copper voice coil option. The aluminum option will be strictly a dual voice coil for maximum power and minimum impedance. The higher impedance single voice coil copper configuration is ideal for the absolutely smallest enclosures and applications. With a Bl of nearly 38 Tesla meters, the copper SMT can literally be mounted inside a standard 4" thick interior wall for invisible deep bass that can quite easily fill a large room.

The TC-SMT’s will be available for online purchase in early August and still start at just $248.

Geez, since no one replied to this post I thought I would. Thanks for the update. I like the fit and function for the NSX. Currently, I have the Earthquake 10-SWS in my "chopped" Toolbox and it works pretty well. I bet this sub would be an upgrade if it can handle the small enclosure space. The depth size is very nice for the application.

Good luck!

what do you mean "chopped"?

I had the original "prototype" toolbox. I modified it by cutting a much greater slope to open up the foot well space in my '95. After cutting the face plate off the enclosure, I resurfaced the face with a new fiberglass plate. CL65 was the one to inspire me to do this. The end result was at least (if not more) leg room compared to stock. The low frequency response is marginal due to the smaller enclosure (Hal stated the enclosure had 0.65 cu.ft. of space). I probably cut about a 1/3rd of the enclosure off.

There is a post somewhere showing photos of what I cut and the final result. (I really need to learn to learn how to cut and paste a link)

Still, the sub in this thread would fit in the chopped cabinet and would most likely be an improvement over the Earthquake 10-SWS.

I ended up with a Image Dynamics IDQ10 which is suppose to be made for very small enclosures (0.3 to 0.5cu). I am a HUGE fan of TC Sounds and have a SVSubwoofers.com in my HT and it rocks (2 -TC Sounds 12s). They are an OEM supplier for Eclipse and a few others and now market their stuff retail too, in house on the website. I orginally had a TC Sound TC2+ 10" in my orginal Zetoolman and it put a JL Audio W3v2 to shame. But it wouldn't fit after I hacked off the face and made a small box (it needed a 5-3/4" mounting depth).

Anyway.... HUGE fan of TC Sounds and I will let you know how this new shallow sub sounds as I will be first in line for one.
