, has anyone made theirs wireless?
I am looking to mess around with making the hookup from computer to the EMS (Tec3R, in my case) wireless.
Simply to be away from the noise and exhaust of the car.
Has anyone done a simple solution? Just looking for something that will take me no more than 20-30 feet away from the car.
Also wanting to let a distant tuner look at the settings real time over the Net . (Have that covered)
Just wondering if anyone has done this.
Anyone with ideas, other than Nascar and Formula1 systems?

It's just a serial link Len, right? - there are a number of bluetooth options available on the market now; let me see if I can find something suitable. Meanwhile go Google yourself (???!!!) for wireless serial link.

All you should need for your laptop is a generic USB bluetooth adapter I should think for ~ $30 as opposed to another serial adapter at what appear to be ~ $150 (although you can use one at each end, I don't think you have to at the laptop)

i.e. http://newsite.pagecomputers.com/st...rs&category_name=10gc87s275&product_id=343570 (this is cheapest I can find for the Socket brand)

Here's another alternative to bluetooth - AirCable - looks interesting! (Needs an additional power supply which is a small inconvenience but only cheap enough at $5 cost for that)

Interesting idea, Len. What do you plan to use for remote viewing? Something like Glance?

Thanks Ken.
Much appreciated. I had googled and had a lot of different solutions. I was just trying to see if anyone had actually done it and was successful with it.

I really appreciate the extra info. It all looks inexpensive enough. I will come up with something soon.

Something like that.
The person on the other end would actually be viewing through a web based interface. Also able to adjust it.
I wanted to throw something up quickly, seeing that the tuner is 2k miles away at times. The remote access would cut down a lot of confusion (On my part)

Okay, so you are talking more along the lines of webex or placeware, as those allow you to grant access to your puter to the remote viewer, where glance only allows remote viewing. Good idea. Let us know how the bluetooth connection works out.

KGP, pretty much it.

Ken, thanks the Air Cable, I did not have. If the transfer rate is up to speed, that may be a nice solution for me here at home.

Thanks again.

You did say 20-30ft requirement, Len and the Aircable claims that (within same room); I see that the free2move product is 100m however so you may get better transmission with that product?

Our company has personally used EBlvd (www.eblvd.com) for webcasting and they are the least expensive, provide for unlimited web-casting, and even provide a free anytime unlimited conference calling option. They were much cheaper then Glance and WAY cheaper then WebEx and Placeware (now Microsoft). We don't own them, get no money, blah blah blah.

Anyway - good luck with the project!
