Had Comptech Springs. Just installed the Tein Flex Coilovers on my 05. Took out yesterday for a nice run down Skyline Blvd. above Redwood City. Tried different shock settings along the way and I am estatic! Not to mention I was able to dial in the exact ride height to accomodate my new 215/35's on 18 x 8 (40 offset) and 285/30's on 19 x 9 1/2 (35 offset). Did the whole install in about 4 hours. Easy. I was a little concerned about making it too stiff with these little springs but to my surprise it surpasses my expectations for comfort and control. They are well engineered. With the Comptech's there was very little compliance. The rear seemed too low and would squat bad under acceleration. The ride was absolutely terrible. It was so stiff I bent three of my Lowenhart rims. That's another story.
The hardest part of the install was actually the removal of the old OEM struts. They are wedged in pretty good. The key is to remove screws attaching ABS lines on the fronts and dropping the sway bar on the back. Remove the lower bolts first then the three nuts on top holding the struts. Then you have to get a little physical to force the struts out and down at the bottom. The coilovers slip right in with no strong arming because they are shorter in length. The instructions gave precise measurements to preset the collars. It only took me one re-adjustment (on the car) to reach my desired height. With the 16 settings your sure to find the perfect level of stiffness. I tried it soft up front and stiffer in the back, which kept the front from jumping all over, and really seems to control the tail squat.
I'm running the Nitto Envo's (tires) and they are without a doubt the smoothest and quietest tires (285's yet) I have ever owned.
Overall I couldn't be happier and can't wait to drive it again!
Note: Make sure you realign. By the way, no clunking sounds. The Tein system really is a "10". It's well worth the extra expense.
