Ten Things I Love about my NSX

1) The sound with the top off under hard throttle

2)The sound with the top on under hard throttle

3) The sound with the windows closed under hard throttle

4) The sound when it starts.

5) the view from the drivers seat

6) the seating position

7)the handling

8)the style

9)the shifter

10) the blissful feeling under hard throttle

The one thing I love the most about the NSX is the fact that it attracts a very unique kind of owner.

After all, most people tend to be attracted to the *obvious* exotics / performance cars (Ferraris / Porsches / Vettes / Vipers / Lambos / M3 / etc) and readily dismiss the NSX as a 'contender.'

Most simply lay judgement on a car based on its hp / torque / performance ratings.

Worse yet, some are merely badge-snobs.

I feel that since the NSX's value-proposition is a lot more implicit and often center around intangible qualities such as sound / driving position / view / balance / etc, it takes a special kind of person to recognize and truly appreciate those positive attributes.

It is very easy for the average buyer to dismiss the NSX because its inherent qualities are indeed implicit, and as such those who can see beyond the surface and join the darkside of NSX ownership are indeed a special bunch...

Sexy, low slung, purposeful and functional, many sided (relaxing cruise or hard weekends at the track), reliable, affordable, and unique. A connection to the road in a way no other sports car can duplicate without compromising something in the list above and tugs on your emotions in many different ways.

At least, thats why I aspire to have one.

I agree.

Granted, there are going to be certain characteristics that the NSX has in common with other high-performance sports cars, such as affluence and a desire for excitement. But, based on my observations, the NSX owner is much more likely to be fascinated by technology - often in careers in engineering or technology of some sort - and is also much more likely to be involved in other activities involving a combination of technology and excitement. At NSXPO 2001, I took an informal survey and found that over a third of the group had flown an airplane, which is an extremely high percentage for any non-aviation-related group.

10. Did I mention I love my car because it is an NSX.

What I love about MY NSX:

Telling people: "Ferrari? Well.... Kinda, It's an Educated Man's Ferrari".

yeah, some past threads about what job NSX owners have confirm this... a lot were in Info.Tech/Computing... others joked about being 'drug dealers' and 'freelance gynaecologists'... *lol*

Far out!!! I didn't know that. (that survey presumed the NSX was not classed as a flying object, right?

)

are there any more interesting facts from your survey?

1 Turning it over after a few days rest.
2 That deep grumble at idle
3 Engine noise filling the cabin, always
4 Confused look on peoples faces
5 Tight shift linkage and clutch
6 Direct communication felt via manual steering
7 Love that climate control and those leather seats
8 View from the cockpit, swear it was custom built for me
9 Look of the black paint gloss, especially at night with just a hint of light
10 Avoiding potholes has never been so much fun

I'm glad someone mentioned the view from the cockpit, those little white lines seem to disappear right under your left foot!

You know, I had always been in love with the NSX since it first debuted. It wasn't until recently when I realized why I had been so taken by it's styling.......the designers cited the F-16 as a major influence. My favorite plane was used to help design my favorite car!

Nsxtasy, you're right about the pilot thing. Since posting on this forum, I've received several e-mails from fellow NSX'ers that fly the friendly skies. I can't explain the pilot-NSX connection compared to other exotics, but it is interesting to note.

I am aircraft tech, I see a big resemblance of aircraft, especially the anticorrosion techniques used, Cockpit layout etc.. but you stole the words out of my mouth earlier. You can point the NSX and it goes with no negative feedback, performs exactly how it was designed...

1. It's been my dream-come-to-reality-car since my mom opened up the Dallas morning news in say-1990 and said, "Look at this picture of the new Acura Nxs-no, i mean nsx- wow its beautiful"

You guys have covered most of them so I have only a few left...

1. Not just the overall intake roar. Specifically how when you stab the throttle at idle you can hear in your left ear the intake suction like a growling monster lurking behind you before the roar of the motor chimes in.

2. After removing the "NSX" from my rear its funny to see how many people completely walk or pull up along side and around the car the car to figure out what it is.

3. Perhaps yellow helps but everywhere I go is an event. Whats most enjoyable is the reaction from very young children. I find it interesting how a 2 year old may not know what it means to be exotic but they know when they see it.

I think everyone has really summed it up nicely, I enjoy all of these things about my NSX, and continue to enjoy them no matter what other cars I have had the opportunity to experience.

Lately I have had a lot of people at the house and each time they see the cars they ask "Which is your favorite?" and it surprises me how often they are shocked when I tell them its the NSX...by far. So if it's not on the "Top 10" list of anyone's already, I will add:

* Being able to expose others to such a magnificent machine

So many times I have had the extreme pleasure of showcasing my NSX to someone that has never seen (much less heard) of one before and it is one of the great joys of owning such a great (and unique) vehicle.

Great thread!

Here's a fun thread worth bumping, and one that I don't feel guilty about blowing off 13 years of cobwebs, filling it up with fresh gas & oil, and pointing it downhill and dropping the clutch in 5th gear.

7. The memorabilia. The coffee table books. The models in glass, wood, metal, plastic. Every time you turn around, someone offers a new watch or some other classy item.

You'll still let me know when/if you're selling the Brian Long book, right? :)

I'm amazed I was not in this thread:eek:

Here's a nice addition to this thread.
I love that it's a 25 year old car and people are just amazed that it's a 25 year old car.

well keep it going after 10 years

1.) Tuned with the help of Ayrton Senna
2.) The smile I get when I press the gas to the floor...sure it is not neck snapping.
3.) engine intake in your left ear.
4.) still turns heads when you drive by.
5.) NSXPrime
6.) The neck sores from looking back at her after you parked her.
7.) Does not beat you up, even on long road trips
8.) running your fingers over her smooth soft body after a wax (I am talking about the NSX, get your mind out of the gutter)
9.) Linear power curve.
10.) Fits in the exotic, tuner, and soon to be classic crowd with ease.

1) Going to the garage feels like and event now, every time.
2) Often makes me feel taller than my 5'10" self really is when I stand next to it, and I'm at stock ride height.
3) Shifter feel.
4) Timeless, stunning design that never gets tired to look at.
5) Excellent handling and steering feel. Unmatched, at least for my experience level and driving style.
6) Excellent value proposition - inexpensive to run, and virtually money in the bank.
7) Look backs.
8) Excellent seats, that driving position & view over the hood - have never sat in a car that fit me better.
9) Really great owners and organizations like NSXCA, NSXPrime.
10) Senna's tie-in. I'm not even much into F1 (yet) but his being involved in the development gives it such a cool legacy.

7. Walking towards it across a parking lot

6. Seeing only the road and peaks of the front fenders as I drive

5. Its Red

4. The ticking sound the exhaust makes as it cools

3. The howl from VTEC to 8 grand

2. Its so rare I know I'll never meet another one at an intersection

1. Knowing its there whenever I need it
