Last week I installed my test pipes. The car pulls alot stronger, but its also alot louder.

When you take out the cats, depending on what exhaust system you have, your car will get noticibly louder. When I had an HKS without the cats, the car sounded great. When I put on a Taitec GT Parallel exhaust with cats, the car sounded aweful.

There is no way to guess how a car will sound until you do the switch.

How much louder? Livable louder on a daily driver, or too loud for that? How hard is it to swap them out, since I'd have to do that every 2 years for emissions.

IMO they are considerably louder and whether or not they are suitable for a daily driver depends on your tolerance and preference. If you do a lot of highway driving daily, I would probably recommend against it depending on which exhaust you have too. We love our car with the test pipes but it is REALLY loud, particularly if you also have headers.

The swap is quite easy as long as you have a jack & jack stands at a minimum. I wouldn't worry about that issue at all, it's more about whether you enjoy the NOISE!

I'd be interested to see what kouasupra's dyno shows as most every dyno I've seen for a NA car is very minimal (max 5hp) to no hp gains.

I don't know about HP gains since I went down to 10lbs of boost from 12, but with the pipes the car was much louder and more aggresive sounding. It was insane!

I'm running the ARK DT-S exhaust with the SS pipes. Through my years of experience with many cars. The SS pipes should gain a few hp. Here is a short video that I took today (road was a bit bumpy).

Can you make a video of what your car sounds like from the outside? It seems like most exhausts sound almost exactly the same from the inside of the car.

I will have a video for everyone soon, i just got my pipes. sat, sun, or mon.

I have rhino ramps and jack stands, how hard is this to do for those w/ modest mechanical skills? Is it literally unbolting and rebolting? I would think that the bolts would be hard to get off...

Does anyone other than Dali sell the test pipes? I want my NSX to be a bit louder and this seems like a good way to go.

Does anyone sell a resonated test pipe or high flow cats for our cars? Are the cats even that restrictive?? Most other cars have high flow cats as an option, and that reduces the extra noise/resonation that you normally get with a straight thru test pipe. (and the smell)

I'd be more interested in that.

There is no smell. On cars that you smell something, they are generally modified and out of tune. Too rich generally, and you can smell the unburned fumes.

How restrictive the cats are depends on what you have. On a factory motor they are not very restrictive. If you have headers, exhaust, a supercharger, well then the cats can become a slight bottleneck. There are many high flow cats. They are not cheap.

ScienceofSpeed sells their own test pipes and Taitec test pipes here and here. I would definitely order the test pipes through them.

The procedure for swapping the test pipes/cats is very simple as mentioned earlier. Since you already have jack stands you are set to go. The only difficult thing is getting some leverage on the bolts, but it is as simple as unbolting the cats and rebolting the test pipes. You might want to get some PB Blaster and spray it on the bolts to make it easier to loosen them. There is one bolt that is awkward to reach but it is a simple swap.

It will definitely make your car louder like you wanted it.
