The "TAPATALK" popup spam on iPhone

... Is annoying. Makes it difficult to browse on iPhone. Anyway go disable it? I get it on every page and subpage.

It doesn't do that when I use it on my phone. Is this a new problem or something you have experienced since Tapatalk was installed? I believe it's only supposed to do the popup notification once.. Or at least not more than once per session. Are you blocking cookies or something?

Use tapatalk here. Never seen a pop up

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I believe what the OP was referring to was the popup notifying you that the site has Tapatalk if you view it with a regular web browser from a mobile device. In my experience this is very infrequent, to the point that it could only be the first time you visit the site with a given browser on a given device. But certainly not every page or even more than once per visit. I don't even get it once per visit, but maybe if you don't stay logged in you would get it every visit.

Yes, that is what I was referring to. I 'used' to get the popup once per website, but now I get it everytime I browse a site, hit submit reply, reload, go back, forward etc.. Makes it hard to navigate..

Why so many tapatalk prompts on mobile. I have the app but want to browse the full site for some items...

What device? nsxotic911 was on an iPhone. There is a lot of iPhone traffic on the site and only two people mentioning it so far. Let's try to narrow it down.

What iOS and browser versions?

Are you sure that it's accepting cookies correctly?

Can you stay logged into the site from the browser?

Can some other folks on an iPhone confirm that it's working correctly, and state your iOS and browser versions?

I was getting this, disabled cookies and it happened every page I went to. I ended up enabling the cookies and it went away.

Yep, that's why I keep asking people reporting an issue if their browser is accepting cookies. That's how it tracks that it already showed you the popup.

So there's no way to browse Prime with cookies disabled without getting that dialog all the time? That's pretty messed up. Cookies shouldn't be a requirement to read a forum.

It had been a while, but I saw it twice yesterday from my iPhone and iPad.

I am using Safari. Don't know/didn't know you can enable/disable cookies. Still, it would be nice to be able to browse without cookie requirement.

BTW: Is the "TapATalk" feature something that Prime opted into? Just curious.

I get reminded once in a while that I have TAPATALK but not enough to be bothersome. It's a good thing for me because I always forget that I have it for Prime.

What's the point of the pop-up anyway? Does Prime get a cut if someone buys the software? Hard to believe there's anyone left on the internet that doesn't know it exists at this point.

I installed it at the request of a number of members who used it on other sites and really liked it. I'd never heard of it until someone requested it.

The point obviously is for Tapatalk to promote itself. It is designed to do this infrequently.

No, I don't get a cut. I don't get anything from Tapatalk.

I stopped browsing Prime on my iPhone because of the tapatalk popup. Every few seconds got kind of redundant.

As repeated throughout this thread, try turning on cookies in your browser and it should stop.

Cookies shouldn't be a requirement to read a forum.

For the folks who are anti-cookie.. In some purist theoretical way I agree with you. The reality though is that most modern websites rely on them.

If someone wasn't a member of a site then maybe it would make sense to me that they might like to browse it without cookies. However, I'm not sure I "get" why someone who is a member would want to browse this site on their mobile without staying logged in, which requires cookies.

By logging in you have access to more features such as PM and email, see fewer ads (an even bigger deal on the small screen of a mobile device), can post a quick reply if you wish, and the site keeps track of your unread and read messages for you.

I can think of two ways:

1. I could modify the TapaTalk code. I'm not going to do that - it's a PITA as far as maintenance and upgrades.

2. I can uninstall TapaTalk. I only installed it because people asked for it. If more people hate the way TapaTalk works than like it, I can uninstall it.

I know a lot of people like the software, so I can put up with an occasional popup.

What surprises me is that you can't turn the reminder off. I guess Tapatalk has no incentive to allow that since the only people they're aggravating aren't their customers. They're the ones we should be complaining to.
